I love Stuart's passion for the film, and his keen insights. He's inspired me to buy it on DVD and watch it again. My favourite new wave film was always Room at the Top, but I think I may have overlooked the brilliance of A Kind of Loving.

As a 15 year old school leaver in 1962, I started my first job at a local cinema as a trainee projectionist and the film showing that week was A KIND OF LOVING and I thought it was brilliant. As it was an ‘X’ certificate film at the time and I was then under the age of 16, I shouldn’t have been allowed to see it. But I was.

Very interesting comments. I have seen that film several times and read the book countless times and I think that Stuart Maconie does make interesting observations.

Is there any way ITV would consider putting this series out for general viewing, her in Australia I cannot find it.
