That is realy a lovely Meshkite. Building them is a lot of work!

You are right. The kite looks as if it's woven from long pieces, but actually it's lots of small pieces sewn together, which is indeed a lot of work.

Thank you Jim for putting the effort to share some cool kites...take care.

Thank you for your appreciative comment, Craig. It doesn't get any easier as time goes by, unfortunately.

Three of the same kites, but on separate lines? Unusual. Great music, great video.
@JimNicholls2 ай бұрын
You know my habits well, Tim! Two of them were already connected, and I intended to add the third to the same line, but I didn't have another length of connecting line in the bag, strangely.

They were a great buy many years ago, Nigel, and terrific fliers in a light breeze.

The Mesh Delta was one of Willi Koch's many clever designs. It's sad that he has gone.

The Mesh Delta is very unique. I have not seen a kite full of holes like this before. Hope good weather is returning. Happy flying Jim

Thank you. Yes, the Mesh Delta is a very clever design, and I'm happy to have mine.

I bought a used sail-only Premier Willi Koch Mesh Delta that had been in a house that was badly damaged by a hurricane. The frame had been destroyed, and the sail damaged here & there, but it made shipping from the USA to Canada much more affordable, as the sail folded down into a small packaged. I repaired the sail damage, and made a new frame out of light Carbon spars. It flies wonderfully.

That was a good way to get a very interesting kite! I used to have the 19ft version too, but couldn't justify the money invested in both of them.

Hi, Another fine video. Not been up to much, only a couple of flys over the holidays. However my partner is treating me tp a trip to the Lytham and St Annes Kite festival in a couple of weeks. She's been planning this for a while, apparently, after I mentioned it last year! Be taking a couple of Trilobites of course. Maybe an early fly for the World Trilobite Kite Fly weekend! Looking forward to in immensely. Hopefully the weather will co-operate. Will post some video. Cheers, Bill.

Good to hear from you, Bill, and I hope the festival goes really well. The Trilobites are ideal to fly at such an event, and I'm sure you'll get lots of admiring looks.

How nice, especially with a friend! I'm assuming the mesh delta has less pull, less lifting power, than a full-fabric delta? Thanks for posting!
@JimNicholls2 ай бұрын
It's surprisingly similar to a "normal" kite in those respects, Richard, but I'm sure there is some difference.

hello Jim, I've been watching you since 2015 and I've always found your content very relaxing and informative. and I'd like to ask if you possibly know how to add or what LEDs to buy for a kite. because the majority of the breeze and wind in the country I live in happens to be later in the day, near night time. and I'd also like to say thank you for all those years of these kite flying videos!
@JimNicholls2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, but I don't really have much to offer on this subject. Night flying is actually illegal here in New Zealand, but I do have a couple of LED deltas that I bought cheaply from China many years ago. I also have a Trilobite which my son fitted with lights, but he used LEDs that he'd had for a long time. I think AliExpress has a lot of such things to offer, but I would have no idea which are the best to buy. Fitting lights to a kite is most commonly done with velcro, I think, but for the Trilobite my son and I used safety pins. It wasn't a very professional job, and I've only flown the kite with its lights once. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I've slowed down a bit lately, but hope to keep going for a bit longer (I'm almost 84 now, so won't be going for ever).
