A last Trip to the Offshore Stations *** Scheveningen Summer 1974***

Horst van Gelderen aus Mühlacker (AmateurfunkCall DC3SW) hat diesen Schmalfilm gedreht. Mit dabei sein Funkfreund Joachim Maneval (DF2CQ), der jetzt in München lebt. Werner Tschoepe (DG5EKH), der Horst auf diesem Boat Trip kennengelernt hat, hat den Film digitalisiert und vertont.
Hintergrund und Erklärung: Zum 1.9.1974 trat in den Niederlanden die "Straßburger Konvention" in Kraft die u.A. das Arbeiten, Werbung bestellen, Versorgen usw. der in "Internationalen Gewässern" vor Scheveningen sendenden populären Piratensender unter Strafe stellte. Damit war die wirtschaftliche Basis für die Popdampfer entzogen und alle Stationen stellten brav zum/am 31.8.1974 ihre Sendungen ein, bis auf Radio Caroline/Radio Mi Amigo das wieder einmal (1967 schon vor England) dem Gesetz trotzte. Vor diesem Hintergrund waren die
Wochen davor, die letzte Gelegenheit die PopPirates noch einmal auf "Hoher See" in Aktion zu sehen und Abschied zu nehmen. Vom Scheveninger Hafen starteten diese Boat Trips, organisiert von den europäischen Free Radio Clubs, und führten zur Norderney (Radio Veronica), der Mebo 2 (Radio Nordsee International) und der Mi Amigo (Radio Mi Amigo/Radio Caroline). In diesen Wochen entstand der Film.. das genaue Datum wird gegebenenfalls nach geliefert.... eben so ein Film von Kurt Kristkowitz.. der ebenfalls bei diesem Trip gefilmt hat.
Der Trip wurde organisatorisch von Hans Verbaan begleitet, dem ich mein Transistorradio lieh, damit bei der Mi Amigo, die live von unsrem Trip berichteten, der Ton auf das Besucherboot uebertragen werden konnte.
Unser Trip Boat war die MS Fortuna.
Beim Ton wird auch Abschied genommen von Radio Atlantis, das vor Belgien vor Anker lag... und bereits am 25.8.1974 die Sendungen einstellte. WTaug2014

I made that trip too, on that day the music died. We were there the moment Veronica stopped broadcasting and on hour later Radio Atlantis from the MV Jeanine

Great stuff Julian and brings back happy memories of the offshore stations. Whilst I listened to all of these RNI was my favourite and I recall receiving an Xmas card from Steve & Debbie England . I was delighted they bothered ! Is there any way to hear your archives?

I recorded the Tour of the Mi Amigo Part 2 on Caroline in 1974 some of this is here on KZbin - My favourite Station at the end was Atlantis with the lovely Debbie England - many many reel to reel recordings in the attic - Don Allen - RNI goes DX - the Kent request hour - ALL OF THE TOP 500 on the Caroline count down 1981 I think? ( on cassette ) - Debbie England - plus loads more.

In the last few seconds of this video, there's a jazz version of the Radio London (PAMS) sonowaltz. I've only ever heard the Hammond version, and assumed it was only ever recorded as a jingle. Any one know where this version came from?
