it was getting too big, people with vested interests in other sports did what they had to do,

When you've got people who don't know what they are doing managing the sport, it doesn't end well. In A-league's case, we suffered from both the FFA and the APL. Now I'm not saying they are the same I get FFA did heaps of good things but by the time they introduced an appeal system for fan bans, and solved their other issues the league was already dead and well, it doesn't look like its gonna get to this level anytime soon.
