Your cardigan is phenomenal 😍 Hazel is going to do great. She’s intelligent and she has ya’ll behind her. She can take on the next grace, and everything you’ve prepared her for and taught her will keep her going.

Congratulations to Hazel and her hard work. Your sweater looks great. I see what you mean about those edges, but agree with you that it must be a textural thing. The color you chose to go around looks perfect!! Thanks for taking time out of your day to podcast. No need to apologize for anything. 😊

Great for H! Every situation is different and all you can do is make the best decision with what is put in front of you. You guys will support her with anything she needs. She’ll make her way with everyone’s help with the change.

Now that I see the sweater all put together on the big screen, I'm betting the garter portion of those squares were on purpose. That little bit of texture does add to the design.... I LIKE IT!

I love the sweater and I think the cuffs are right. They are part of the big picture if you will. IMO Hazel is very smart because she has been expose to so may amazing things. 💖 Just remember, Sometimes life is a glorious sh*t show and you just have to dance through it as gracefully as you can. 💞

Beautiful socks and sweater! If you like the cuffs, that’s all that matters. 😉 As for Haze, as long as she knows she’s got you guys in her corner, she’ll be fine! ❤

Always, always, always advocate for your child! I went through a very similar situation with my son at that same age. I asked the teacher to give him extra worksheets to do while the other children were finishing their work. Just like Haze, he wasn't trying to be a troublemaker, he was just bored. The next year he was placed in a gifted and talented class and it was just what he needed. Knowing that you have her back will stay with her forever. ❤

Wow, good for H. Every child is different and every situation is different. What matters is communication - between her and you and John and the school. Sounds to me, like you have that all set. Teachers and parents working together in the best interest of the child, is always the best.

I am a person who as a child I was offered to advance. My parents chose not to. Obviously I don’t know what would have happened had I advanced but my choice would have been to advance. I love learning and being in classes where I wasn’t learning was very difficult for years. I’m so glad you are listening to her. I don’t have any advice really but I’m sending all sorts of hugs to you guys.

Your sweater is so pretty! I wonder if you could stripe the sleeves with your leftovers and another color, like the one you used for sleeve you have now? Just a thought! The solid one with the cuff the way you did it is pretty too, and maybe stripes would look wonky with the quilty look of the blocks. 🤔 When you were talking about books and you said about the one with all the feels, I'm like *absolutely not* 😂 There's got to be something wrong with me about that. 🙄 That's such a cool thing about Haze's school opportunity. I have no input to offer, but I am confident that you and John, being such fully caring and invested parents, will do everything you can to make sure it's a positive experience for her. And if the school is equally on board with their support, I can't imagine she won't succeed and thrive. Be kind to yourselves while you get through that inevitable initial transition and adjustment phase. You got this! 💕

Many moons ago…my oldest brother didn’t do his homework but passed all the tests. Back then he was placed in a private school instead of being held back. They didn’t realize that he wasn’t being challenged. My second to youngest brother (I have 5 brothers 😬) he dropped out of school for the same reason. When he needed to have a GED to get a job, he took the test without studying and passed with flying colors. Keep in mind this was in the 70s and 80s. I encourage you to follow your heart instead of what the system thinks is best for Hazel! I know, easier said than done! 😂

Well girl, kiddies don't come with instructions. Good for you folks doing all the research first. I skipped grade 2 in 1967 and honestly the only thing was, I was Always 1 year younger, sometimes it doesn't matter but I couldn't take driver's education with my friends. Also I wasn't allowed to drink and party with my friends when they turned 18.... kinda sucked 😅

Midway through 1st grade I got moved up to 2nd grade because I was ahead of the other kids who were still learning to read. Bear in mind, this was the 70's; a whole different world ago. You're already on the right track if you're working on the material she would've covered in the year she'll skip. (No one caught me up in math, and that followed me the rest of my life.) My only other concern would be, is she ready to be a year ahead of her friends from this past year? Again, this was the 70's so I got dumped into a whole new class with kids who decided I must think I'm better than they are if I skipped a grade. Considerable bullying ensued but again, the 70's; most teachers' responses to it were, "He's only hitting you because he likes you." Otherwise congratulations, because like you, she's a lady ahead of her time!
