A lesson learned! Using fake flowers in resin / making a resin skull

When working with resin always work in a well ventilated area. Wear a respirator with organic vapor filters and wear nitrile gloves.

Oh no, I'm wondering if you could spray them with Kamar Varnish first, it's what I use to hold my alcohol ink in place before applying resin top coats. ❤

Thanks for watching Julie 💜 I'm not sure. I'd hate to risk it again, 10oz for these is a lot for it not to turn out. But that's a good idea. I'm not sure what kind of ink / dye they use on these but it might be worth a shot.

Sorry that happened. That’s a lot of resin use.. to have it not turn out the way you wanted. I appreciate the heads up, I can definitely see myself putting those roses in a resin piece. I’ve got a couple of the big skull molds, I’m going to pour one with a green glow in the dark and the other with a red glow in the dark. Thanks for sharing such a helpful video!💀

Thanks for watching, I was totally bummed this happened. Definitely stick to the white roses. Those turn out gorgeous. So pretty 😍 and they don't bleed at all.

HI Tish, You have such an adorable name for your channel! I just used those holographic type roses from Temu in both purple and clear in book ends and they turned out perfect. Now I'm a novice and this is written 9 months after your post so maybe they have improved the dye? I did not use a deep pour resin but the book ends used a lot of resin. You are very talented and I try to catch your channel daily! Thank You!

Thank you so much 🌹 I appreciate you taking the time to leave me such a kind wonderful comment. I think it was actually the resin that caused the rose to bleed. I am going to try again with a different brand of resin. I used deep pour epoxy and I think that caused my problem. I'm going to try again soon with a regular 1 to 1 ratio epoxy. I bet your bookends were beautiful 😍

I would like to dip the silk flower in resin and hang it up to dry. So it would be stiff and preserved. I need some carnations to put on an old lanp with carnations. I would like to paint the silk flower with colors to match the original metal works ones. Red and burgandy. I would then like to paint the metal ones to match with glitter and paint that changes colors. It has leaves that are long and narrow. Id like to paint the leaves and carnations with the camelion paint. Great and red- burgandy. I have never worked with resin. I did buy a carnation mold. I think that a silk flower dipped would look realistic.

Yes you can definitely do that with silk flowers as well. I've seen other people put silk flowers into pyramids and other resin projects but I personally haven't tried it out

I like your idea of spraying the skull black and then putting rhinestones on it. I'm really curious how it would look.

How awful! I use these in skulls and this hasn't happened to me...but now it makes me wonder if I should soak them in water to see if they bleed color before using them, as I just got a new batch in the other day. Wow...

Do you use the dyed ones or the clear ones? I haven't had a problem with the clear ones. I'm not sure If I will be using the colored ones again. Thanks for watching.

Such a shame. Great idea though. Perhaps a sealer on the rose might work such dipping as you did a couple of times and allowing it to set after each dip. 👍☺️💐

Maybe dip the flower and cure for 6 hours and then add to the mold. Would that work?

I'm not sure because it wouldn't be pliable anymore to fit inside the mold. But it's worth a try. Thanks for the idea 🌹

Coat the rose first in resin dry then use the rose in the skull.

It won't fit inside this mold if I do that. Once they're coated in resin they're not pliable and this mold has a tricky opening. It would work in a Pyramid though.

I think it's pretty giving off iridescent look, even if you can't see the shape of your flower well due to the color bleeding. I ordered some of the first one you posted, thanks for sharing & the tips! 💞🙏👍👏😚🤗
