The camera was too tight in a number of situations. It can help give a feeling of intimacy and involvement, but in the wrong situations (i.e. when he’s demonstrating something or having someone else demonstrate something) it gives the opposite feeling; we feel left out as viewers. Also, it’s really jarring when you’re trying to track a subject with such a tight focal length. Overall, good video, though. Thanks!

Great memory for names I must say. He's got a lot of students. Love listening to him teach/coach. Having a great coach is a wonderful thing. It makes studying a martial art do much easier when you have this. For context I don't even practice Jiu-jitsu but I find myself watching a lot of his instructional content and interviews etc. He's just got a very clear mind and he's very good at conveying that to others.

oliver closehoff thanks for saying this. In the U.S. we have countless Olympic champions and NCAA/NAIA wrestling coaches and people want a dude that never wrestled to do a takedown video.... 🤦🏾♂️
@BadWolfMMANashville4 жыл бұрын
oliver closehoff and add in the cultish mentality of the BJJ community. We are all looking for the next Jesus. Hoping some dude has a mystical detail that will allow us to skirt having to put more effort in.
@adrianarroyo9374 жыл бұрын
@oliver closehoff Do you know what Danaher has that almost all top grappler lack, and make him such an admired coach? Knowledge. Top grapplers have the skill, but not necessarily the knowledge, and more often than not, a wrestler can do the move, but can't explain (well) how he did it. I've seen tons os instructionals, and they show you what you have to do, but they don't teach. Or better said, they teach as good as they can. Which usually is pretty mediocre. That's the reason why a lot of people don't care that Danaher never entered a competition. He may not have the skill, but he has the knowledge, and knows how to transmit it
@adrianarroyo9374 жыл бұрын
@oliver closehoff Well, if in their DVDs they don't show all the key details to be able to start using the single leg correctly, then there's a void that Danaher will fill. If the wrestling coaches have such an amazing and high level details that we can't even comprehend them, maybe when people start to understand the position and the move thanks to Danaher's DVD, they may start to understand and use what the wrestling coaches teach in their DVDs. In any case, how do you know the level of Danaher's takedowns? He has never competed, nor shown anything about takedowns beyond this little pieces of video you can find on KZbin. How do you know he's not also a top level takedown coach?
@BadWolfMMANashville4 жыл бұрын
Adrián Arroyo there is this Ivy League school in New York..... Cornell. They produced the only wrestler to win 4 NCAA titles at 4 different weight classes. He is also a world champion. They produced a 2x NCAA champion with the past 4 years. They currently have a 2x NCAA champion and he will be entering his junior year this season. I cannot name one Danaher grappler that is a takedown oriented grappler. Just because you use multi syllable words doesn’t mean you have knowledge. If he has so much knowledge why isn’t he coaching the national team? Can you please list the wrestling DVDs you purchased that failed you? Most collegiate wrestling coaches have no instructional videos out because they make a great living being paid by their university and running summer camps. If you want to be a Danaher fan that is cool. But to overstate his expertise is wrong. The BJJ community would be up in arms if some wrestler was putting out BJJ videos. They would immediately ask, “ who gave him his black belt.” But, BJJ guys can talk about other forms of grappling and it’s okay. Double standard.

I would argue that the largest contributor to injuries in jiu jitsu is a lack of adequate rehab and recovery. Not enough mobilization, sleep, nutrition, and stretching. Without proper prehab/rehab the body will eventually break.
