Does reducing sugar test only test for disaccharides? I don't understand why acid is added to hydrolyse monsaccharides in the test for non-reducing but no acid is added in the test for reducing.
@MissEstruchBiology Жыл бұрын
Reducing sugars tests for all mono and disaccharides, except sucrose. Sucrose is the only one that is non-reducing because the chemical group that is able to reduce is involved in the glycosidic bond. Thats why you have to hydrolyse the molecule, and then it works.

However, I thought that the bonds between nucleotides are hydrogen bonds and those between the pentose sugar and the phosphate group in DNA. Could you confirm that?
