So as we know that (0,1) becomes (k,1) and therefore moves right, is it assumed anything under the axis moves left?

I take it that shears are just for OCR?

Yes OCR A and OCR B (MEI) have shears, but AQA and Edexcel do not

Now I watched your video. You explained this problem with so many details. I can understand it now. Thank you. Using the Identical matrix to do transformation just made the problem so easy.
