Hello, can you do a video about research issues like extraneous variables, confounding variables etc and ways to minimise it?

Did you teach us at all about the experimental design or were we obliged to already know that? Also if you know any great ways to catch up with psychology as first year that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have a video on experimental design. You can access it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnKXo3eLbZtsgbc You do need to know about experimental design for the exam. In terms of revising / catching up I would suggest avoiding any kinds of "passive" revision. So reading the book, or rewriting your notes generally takes a lot of time but doesn't really help you to learn the material in an effective way. After initially learning/revising content, producing things from memory is always going be better for your brain. Mind maps, exam questions, flashcards are all good, provided you are doing them from memory and then checking your work so you know where you went wrong. Active engagement with the work is the key.

Could you please explain natural and quasi ? Like the differences, I’m having trouble like understanding how they differ bc both have pre existing IV ? Which researcher has no control over ? But natural is the one which would have occurred if researcher wasn’t there , but surely IV would have naturally occurred in a Quasi expo as well ? Sorry if that doesn’t make sense ..
@smcartledge27232 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Think of A quasi experiment as looking at pre-existing differences between people. Like gender or age and then looking at its impact on a DV. In a natural experiment you are looking at how something naturally occurring, like stress, affects a DV. Does that help?
@redroses46792 жыл бұрын
@@smcartledge2723 Ok I think I understand it now.. so quasi is comparison of a pre-existing variable, whereas natural your just observing the effects of something that naturally occurs ?

Would Sperry's research on Split-brain patients be an example of a natural experiment?
