My father was abusive over my life throughout my childhood. He only gave his mind to Jesus, but he never gave his heart to the Lord. He seems to be performance minded rather than Christ minded. He was expecting me to live a perfect life with no mistakes. Every time I made a mistake, he had beaten me and told me lies about myself such as “I never read the Bible, nor pray in tongues, nor ask God for wisdom”. The same lies had tormented me after every mistake I made and after every time I received a different letter grade rather than an A. In the midst of financial issues last year, I was expecting him to support me. But instead, he yelled at me and told me the same lies once more. And that’s the last time I spoke to him. I am in no contact with him anymore because of the wounds from the past that I am struggling. Right now, I am walking in God’s love in the midst of my struggles because His love is unconditional. I am currently writing a book about my life of how I went from being abused by my father to being adopted by the love of Christ. I hope this is encouraging to anyone who might have a similar experience.
