Khanyisa isn’t their blood family member but the Herd has welcomed her as their own which I think is so awesome and amazing too.🥰😊🐘❤️ If I’m correct, I don’t think that an elephant that isn’t related to the Herd family usually doesn’t get accepted but sweet Khanyisa was lucky and right was accepted into this Herd family. There is a male Bull elephant that is related to one of the mom elephants by blood and I believe the same mom to a girl elephant in the Herd too. If you go to their website, they have info on each elephant and who is actually related and who was basically adopted into the Herd. Some of the elephants do have sad stories as to how they were found and brought to this Orphanage. God bless you and have a good evening too. Sue M. (Florida, USA)🙏🏻😊👍🐘🥰

The lion was probably watching for a while. Because of the thick vegetation and wind direction, it was able to be so close before the elephants were able to sense it. I wasn't able to see the lion. Although I did pause and replayed the video. Was it a lion or lioness? I like that they will occasionally have reactions to or interactions with other wildlife. I'm been waiting for them to come across a snake. Sure they will just calmly dispatch it. Just as simply as they can easily chase off a single lion without a big fuss. A lion is a more direct threat to the weak humans if they separate them. Hope all the HERD elephants and the humans caring for them will keep alert and be safe.

However, I did hear one of the Careers tell the elephants to calm down, was that long after the Lioness was gone or was it when she was still there? That shouldn’t be like that because if you want these elephants to be send out into the wild then you wouldn’t have done them damage. They will surly be killed or seriously hurt. Not a good thing when the elephants are doing what is natural.🤔 I think that sweet Pinkie girl Khanyisa is doing quite good and she seems to be doing very good getting the greens and other things off the limbs too. @mortalclown38122 жыл бұрын
Yes - it was so scary! 🙏💜 I've been thinking and have some guesses about what happened. (From my sofa - not at all as an expert.😊) Elephants have been surviving for eons with these very behaviors. Maybe all of them running at once could be more dangerous. After all, lions are fast & will gang up on smaller or older - hence slower - elephants this way. (They do it with other hooved animals like gazelles.) I believe herd safety uses different strategies. The carers seem to take their cues from nature. Finally, it's probably impossible to round up 16 elephants not knowing what other animals are lying in wait or in pursuit. It must be heart-stopping to have even closer calls than this. 🙏🐘💙 Hugs from an old chick nobody asked.😊

in conclusion: you have two mutually exclusive options to make sure you have the best bodyguards in the African bush: #1 you can either do it like Kevin Richardson or Dean Schneider, raise lion cubs, become a pride member and venture out on walks with them or #2 you can raise an African elephant orphan, ideally provide a family herd and then go on walkabouts both require years of dedication and love. both species are very social and would accept a human in their midst. maybe the human is better off with the elephant as even a playful and careful lion might scratch/injure you unintentionally quite often while an elephant seems to be very careful all the time - unless in musth, in pain or panicking, then it might be very different but who would be their usual self then anyway?

The Lion had better run and keep running, for those elephants aren't about to let him get near Khanyisa. After all that milk, Khanyisa has grown big and strong -- yet the entire herd is always aware and protective of her as she is still their baby. That's the essence of being a true family.
