Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this! I have the VHS and haven't watched it in years. Used to watch it every year at Christmas. Reminds me of when my grandfather and I set up our train set around the tree every year.

20:58- This part always struck me as odd, because it sounds like Tom was interrupting that guy to be able to talk about the old days. 30:16- Did he just turn into Kermit the Frog?

Fred Severson was head of QSI Industries in Portland, Oregon. The company specializes in sounds for model trains. He has or had probably one of the best Christmas layouts I have ever seen.

@@ExplorerDS6789 He's still around, but I don't think he does work for QSI anymore. In fact QSI hasn't done much at all in the past decade or two. MTH filed a lawsuit against them in the early 2000's over licensing issues with Proto Sound which was a joint venture with QSI and MTH. Since then, QSI began making sound boards for HO trains and pretty much left the O gauge community.

Just curious but did anyone who was an 80’s or 90’s kid play with model trains?

I never had Lionels. I always had HO and G scale trains. HO for indoors and G for outdoors, but this made me really interested in O gauge.

I didn’t have any model trains growing up but I did have a lot of wooden railway trains and I still do. It’s always fun to try and build a layout with them. Didn’t have any stations or yard sheds as the only real shed I had was tidmouth. So yah had to get very creative with wooden blocks.
