Morning Lynn thank so much for sharing this video with us and the cakes are delicious and so nice it lovely to see peacocks in your garden we use have sheep and goats in our garden at one time but the farmer sold it land and now there’s are houses there ❤xxx

Hi Alana, they aren’t in my garden, it was my father in laws garden. They walk around the whole estate lol. I’ve had cows and sheep in mine many a time from the farm lol. They don’t half make a mess ❤️🌹🥰

Hi Lynn, I can’t thank you enough for your videos I so look forward to them,you are like a tonic to me. I’m old fashioned enough to always wash my whites on Monday and have fish for my meal on Friday 🤣. Aw thank you Joy, that’s so lovely of you to say. I don’t wear enough whites to wash every week, I have to save them up for a decent load lol. And we don’t do the fish on Friday thing anymore either, we used to do though for many years. Hi sweet Lynn! My grandmother was the best cook I have ever known! She cooked my grandads supper every day until he passed. He had to have meat, gravy and biscuits every day. Plus a veggie! Christmas dinner at her house was wonderful! She must have cooked for days! Well you have me in the mood to make cupcakes. My grandson will appreciate after a hard days work! My Nanna was exactly the same. I used to go for my dinner every Wednesday and it was fish and parsley sauce. She never had a fridge but used to keep her meat etc down in the cellar in what she called a meat safe.

Hi there. My hubbys mum was like that with her cooking. He said he knew what day it was by what they had for tea!!😂 Ma inblaw was excellent baker - cakes/scones/bread etc. She passed away when my kids were very young. Such a shame they didnt be get more opportunity to be with her.

Hi my beautiful Lynn, May I just say right off the bat, if I had been there, there would have only been 23 portions to bring to his bake off. LOL. When I baked a lot, I used to make my own cake release potion. It consisted of Crisco with flour. Learned it from a professional baker. It worked wonderfully. I also would have added mini chocolate chips to the icing to make it extra yummy. But then I'm a chocoholic. LOL. They looked beautiful, Lynn. You did a fantastic job. Did he win? I bet he did. Did everyone bring something? Can you imagine having to taste 24 entries and then voted on the best one? Awww you and I should have been the judges. When I used to bake for customers, I would always take a mini pan and put that one aside for hubby to have. I just couldn't bake for others and not let him have some, because he would hound me to death to taste the finished product. He said it was torture to smell all that wonderful cake baking and then not have any. LOL. Can't wait to see all the work your hubby is doing. I hope you took before pictures and then after pictures. Does this mean you'll have your own room for taping afterward? That would be lovely. The peacocks were gorgeous. They really are majestic birds. The zoo here used to have an all white peacock. Absolutely stunning when he strutted his stuff. The weather here has been just as awful, sweet lady. Not afternoon showers, but downright thunderstorms every single day. It's the craziest weather I've ever seen here. I wanted to be able to wash the outside of my windows this summer but forget it. I also have been wanting to take the car to get washed. Just can't do any of that with this crazy weather. So I figured I do inside projects instead. But you are right, I just can't go, go, go, like I used to. And I also have to give my back a rest. It was really hurting a couple of days ago. So whether I like it or not, I do have to pace myself. I did get the laundry room done today, though. So I'm happy about that. And no, still no gift card. It should be here this week. The good news is they are coming on the 17th to put in the generator, finally. I was worried that with all this bad weather, it was going to get pushed way back. But apparently, they don't let the rain stop them. It is supposed to be a one-day job. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. For now, what I need for the bathroom, I'm just taking out of the household money. I told hubby, when the gift card comes in, I'll just some of that money for the groceries. So it will all work out. It better get here this week or heads will roll. LOL. Well beautiful lady, looking forward to seeing all what you have in store for us. You always keep it interesting and fun to watch. I appreciate that very much, as I'm sure thousands of people do. How strange does that sound. You literally have thousands of people that tune in to your channel and enjoy your videos. Hello darling, it took all of my willpower not to eat one hahaha. Yes you are a chocoholic my love, but it would have been very yum as you say lol. No, he came 4th out of 24, so not too bad to say it was thrown together at the last minute. Everybody made a cake, they all had to taste them all, and then fill a form in that they had made up hahaha, and score them all. Aw bless him, I can just imagine not being able to taste it all, as you say, torture for the poor man. I’m taking pics as we go along, we chose the tiles, they have been ordered, we’ve got a sample of some panelling, I mean to say, it’s a tiny room, but we can squeeze a shower, basin and toilet in there for an en-suite. So it’s good enough for the main bedroom. It may be that I can have a space to film, I’m working on my hubby hahaha. I wish the peacocks had had the chicks with them, they are so cute when you see them following their mum around. Oh really, I’ve never seen a white peacock, he must have been albino. The weather worldwide is crazy at the moment isn’t it, we’ve never known so much rain in summer, it’s very strange. No, you can’t get those jobs done while the weather is so bad, all you can do is wait for nice days to come. Oh I’m so glad you’re getting the generator done, that’s a relief for you, and I’ll keep everything crossed for you that it gets done in one day. Yes it will even itself out won’t it. I should have filmed today, but I just wasn’t in the mood for it, not like me, but I thought best to wait till I am. It’s still unbelievable to me that so many people watch my videos, I have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure I’m not dreaming. You say the nicest things Donna, and I really do appreciate you and the time that you spend writing these messages. Yes I will email it to you, I did forget, so thank you for reminding me. Hello Lynn, thank you for another lovely video. I think a lot of people used to have leftover Sunday joint on Monday because it was wash day as well. We had a pantry in our council house when I grew up. On Sunday we used to have roast leg of lamb and a big Yorkshire pudding. My 3 sisters and I used to get called when the meat came out before the Yorkshire batter got poured into the tin. We each took a slice of bread and dipped it into the fat and ate it, oh god I can still taste it, it was gorgeous. One of us would also have to chop fresh mint for the sauce. Every week she cooked the meat in this old gas cooker and every week she thoroughly cleaned the oven and then went for a sleep. What memories, fantastic. Your tray bake looked scrummy 😋.♥️♥️

Hi Margot, yes I remember Monday being wash day, and I also remember the wash houses in Manchester, I lived there for a few years, and people used to take all their washing there, wash it, dry it, iron it and fetch it home. Nobody had a washing machine back in the day. It’s surprising how a conversation can spark off so many different memories, I love it 🌹❤️🌹

Hello Lynn! I moved to the USA about 4 years ago and have seen sprays like the Release a Cake around, they do like oils in sprays too, but I have not tried them before. Now that I’ve seen you use it with the parchment paper I will definitively get one! You make everything look so easy to do, when I know it isn’t for me! How did you cut up the cakes in pieces without them crumbling? Some kind of special knife? It’s so much easier Astrid, I don’t know why I never got one before. Well I find it easy to be honest, and I don’t have a special knife, I just use a straight edge one, and clean the blade every time I do a cut. Thank you Sandra, oh hahaha do you, they do all sorts at my son’s office, he encourages them to have fun while at work, I think it’s fabulous. We have a Henry in the garage for all the dirty stuff, I’ve had him years as well, they are such good vacuum cleaners. My Mom baked a lot there were always pie,cakes,bread pudding,rice pudding even that awful tapioca pudding,jelly,and blancmange,and biscuits,no wonder I became a professional baker/pastry chef.We had a verity of meals,even Sunday roasts were different beef,half leg of lamb,chicken,and about a 2-3 inch cut off the leg piece of pork.I also like to eat different things all the time,and I like to go to different ethnic restaurants,and shops to try food I’m not familiar with.We always used Pam spray in baking.The Peacocks are lovely..❤😊❤

Oh I hate tapioca, but all the rest I like lol. Yes you had a good start there with your mum Janet. Wow, you were very well fed, we had healthy meals, but not as varied as yours, and my mum wasn’t as good a cook as my gran. I like ethnic meals, but I hardly ever make them myself from scratch. I may start to do that, and see how I get on. Yes the birds are beautiful 🌹❤️🌹

Oh our children always need their Mum ❤️, even when they are adults, yes various bit and bobs of mine never find there way back to me once they have gone to my daughters 🤣. I love to see how others live, just to get ideas for myself. My sister has a two week rota for dinners, definitely not for me, like you we do tend to eat similar things but not on a daily basis. Hi Penelope, thank you so much. I love that my children ask for help, I would do anything for them and visa versa. Nearly every time my daughter comes, I have something for her lol. Both my children are so good to me, I adore them. I would soon get bored of eating the same thing, I like variety. The tray bake was so nice, I just got the crumb bits off the knife when I portioned it out lol, 😂 never got a full piece because he needed 24 pieces. We came 4th out of 24 so not bad. Hi Lynne, my Nan used to do the same, dusting and always had a duster in her overall pocket. We buried her with her duster in her hand because she was never without it 😅❤ I had a tin with water inside to keep our milk cool too, until we could afford to buy a fridge. Cakes looked lovely I’m sure they’ll go down well. Many years ago I worked on cruise ship when they were much smaller . Staff and officers had exactly the same food as the passengers in them days . My first ship did 3 @ 4 night cruises to The Bahamas so Wednesday was the only day we had different food , as Fri/Mon would be the same and so on. I tell you it gets very boring fast who’d have thought you’d get fed up with Lobsters and prime rib , but you did . I was so happy on the 3rd ship as we did 15 or 21 night cruise in the Far East . Since then I’ve never cooked the same things on the same day or even every week. 😂❤x

Hi Sandra, yes I think it was very common in those days, lots of grandmas wore them lol, so cute. The peacocks aren’t I my garden, they were in my father in laws, they’ve lived on that housing estate for years those birds, they wander round all the gardens but they eat the flowers hahaha. Some people feed them and some people shoo them away. I’ll be doing mine soon lol, bye for now Sandra xxx❤️

Morning Lynn they looked delicious, your son and his friends will be very happy with them. I’m amazed that you got so many out of 1 packet of cake mix well done. Both my Mam and my Nanna were brilliant cooks, I don’t remember having the same meals each week except for Sunday roast, and then on Monday we had what we called cold warmed up which would be everything from the Sunday roast dinner all heated up in a frying pan even the Yorkshire puddings it was always delicious. In the winter there was always a big pan of broth which lasted a couple of days which tasted better the next day and always kept on the cold slab in the pantry. I have a pantry but unfortunately the cold slab has been taken out but it is still a cool place.

Hi Sandra, I’m sure they enjoyed them even if they didn’t win, I haven’t heard yet. Yes it surprising how far you can stretch things when you have to lol. Pantries were the best storage ever. And wracks to hang your clothes on, oh I could go on and on lol. I haven’t had broth for years and I used to make it regularly, it’s delicious. Lovely memories 🌹❤️🌹

The house i was born in and grew up in had a pantry just like you described, it was great in the summer to have to go in there for something as it was always cold & sometimes in the winter items were frozen .

Loved seeing the peacocks it looks lovely where you stay. How is your father-in-law doing these days? Lovely, lovely Lynn baking lovely lovely cakes. I reminisce a lot about my Mam and Gran and the good old days! They had to put up with a lot less ingredients that we now use, but always turned out nice. My husband used to look battered and bruised due to blood thinning tablets he was taking, but keep an eye on it Lynn. You are soooo organised, you put me to shame 😂😂 take care. Hiya Lynn, why do you always cook when I am hungry haha!! They look amazing and wish we had tastavision!!! Jamie is a lucky lad to have you on his doorstep. I have not seen that pinny and headband for a while despite you cooking 😂 my Mum always wore a pinny, but I know a few friends that still wear a pinny to do housework or cooking. Love them. I worked with a lady who always had jacket potato and cold meat on a monday from the Sunday roast, and continued throughout the week with the same meals every week 😮 Not for me. Lynn your Gran must have been out of the same mould as my Mam. She could make a good meal out of nothing. You were never allowed to leave without a feed inside you. Her bread was out of this world Scottie cakes as we call them up here. Neighbours would get them on Wednesdays and Sundays. Soups Stews Pies Cakes. She did it all Once there were workmen doing up the bungalows where she lived. When they were in her house she fed them all. Even the ones working on other peoples houses. Result was when they finished hers they all used to come back for some bait Even when they left the estate some of them used to call back to see her. She was a generous hearted lady who had a far from easy life and brought six kids up on her own. I miss her lots even after all these years Sorry I’ve gone on a bit Lynn. If it’s too much tell me to belt up 😂😂😂❤

Thank you, I do 1 litre of semi skimmed milk, put in microwave for 15 mins on 800. Let it cool to 4k degrees centigrade or about 110 Fahrenheit, add 1/2 of a small organic Yeo yoghurt, mix well, cover and wrap in a blanket, leave for at least 12 hours, I do overnight. Hey presto you have yoghurt. Any plain yoghurt will do as long as it has live cultures in it, but I use a small Yeo.
