"A Lodging for the Night: A Story of Francis Villon" is a gripping tale set in 15th-century Paris. Francis Villon, a poet and a poor master of arts, finds himself entangled in a web of crime and desperation on a snowy November night. After witnessing a murder committed by his companions, Villon grapples with fear and moral dilemmas as he navigates the treacherous streets of Paris in search of shelter. This riveting story explores themes of honor, the consequences of one's actions, and the struggles of those caught in a life of poverty and crime.

Really relished the layered characterization of Villon. The way his inner conflicts and moral struggles are portrayed amid the stark realities of poverty and crime is truly compelling.

Books today are mostly garbage. Swamped with crime thrillers, all with similar covers, with contrived plots and boring writing, just to fulfill time-limited contracts. Actually this new millenuim is all shit. What a terribly era to be living in!!!!

@@adamhughes4442 Think of it this way; it's better to be born after all the great works have been completed, since we have access to all of it. All royalty free and instantly available. Don't look forwards too much to the great works of the future, since we will probably need another world war to create the conditions for them to exist again.

You are a very good reader/actor and so easy to listen to. i was surprised at the suddenness of the end* as well as the ending itself, but a story like this in the hands of a master craftsman is emotionally understood and gives thought to the circumstances. so thanks much and i subscribed :) 🌷🌱 * (where you gave us space to react before talking, which some readers do not understand.)

A bit of EQUALITY found in the CLASS MORALITY. Then & now could still be said truth when survival is no longer just, free like when twined indigenously- land to hand. Oh, SOCIETY…great & lowly, rough & civil, luxuries & survival, what have we here & now, then & gone. Lovely pieces of mirroring from high & mighty with low & manly. Verses of rue.

In lesser hands, Victorian prose is overly florid and so cumbersome as to be almost impenetrable and frankly tiresome to listen to In the hands of a master storyteller like Stevenson however, it actually becomes literature. Well narrated. .
