The stratification of skill in badminton never ceases to amaze me. V Kim would be making 95%+ of badminton players in Canada look foolish, yet is being run ragged and on the backfoot in most rallies here. Strategy, tournament experience, mental fortitude; so much more beyond pure physical fitness and racquet skills are needed to get to the next level (not saying V Kim is lacking in any way, I'm more just talking in general). And then you zoom out even further to national level open tournaments and it's a whole other ball game, and then international beyond that...us "intermediate" players are such ants in comparison. It's disheartening but also awe-inspiring. Love this sport!
