I think QB2 is a better design compared to QB3 in land space used for placing the unit on, and it has minimal moving parts which minimises malfunctions and time needed to transform the space as needed. Though QB3 could be, as you mentioned, more friendly for people how can not move around as easy. Bothe are great ways of using space and environment friendly I guess. Thanks for sharing your design

I really wish so. This exact home may be good to homeless people. Also make a larger cube and it would be more spacious and attractive to a couple

Innovative design compared to many other tiny houses! Also, very beautiful design! Energy efficiency very well thought out. The main drawback with all tiny houses I've seen so far is the food preparation facilities. This has environmental costs as well. I garden and preserve some of my food, dehydrating/freezing and some canning. I also cook nearly all my food from scratch by necessity due to multiple food allergies, though this is much healthier for anyone. This is both healthy and environmentally sound. The choice is shipping corporate food, most of it unhealthy, thousands of miles, or growing it in your own backyard or community garden? But it does take a lot of space. Tiny houses so far seem better suited to people who do a lot of restaurant dining/using commercially prepared foods. I'd love to see this rethought in these designs. Most food preservation needs to be done in large quantities since they all ripen at the same time, for instance, bushels of tomatoes or apples for canning, large canning pots, then storage for canning. Dehydrating takes less storage room, but still canning jars are used for the dehydrated fruit/tomatoes. I have three large dehydrators that go full time for some weeks during harvest season, storing them takes a lot of space. Fewer would mean food would spoil waiting for processing. Making soup stock from the veggie scraps when preserving food which must be frozen or canned, etc, etc, etc. I have a 650 square foot condo and my "small" galley kitchen is barely up to the task. Storing the equipment and preserved goods is also space intensive. I must take over the smallish dining area during all this. I have both a full size refrigerator and deep chest freezer. A full sized oven may also be important. Perhaps collaboration with a home economist who understands food preservation and daily preparation "from scratch" would yield some well-designed spaces that would be even more environmentally friendly, healthier, and more delicious! ;)

you know.... instead of having alternating stairs, you could just make the stairs push into the storage area, and pull out as needed, having some sort of locking mechanism when they are fully extended. At least then you could have a full set of stairs, rather than I think I just broke my neck stairs.
@mizzpoetrics7 жыл бұрын
@Ives: I know exactly what you're talking about & I've seen a few tiny homes using push in/pull out stairs. That would work very well in this design!

I love this and the qb3 don't know why comments are not allowed for the qb3 video. Also, as qb3 is a completely different format it would be great to see this qb2 format be just made larger to make it more comfortable for say 2 people and 2 guests. just keep most of the qb2 format but make the cube larger, or as another option, use a regular rectangle shipping container and have the first half be qb2 format the the 2nd half be a downstairs bedroom & storage room

the problem is that they would have to slide somewhere /:

aztecprincessno1 Yes, there are wide gaps in the door panels. It doesn't really close off the space. Couldn't it slide around the shower unit?

Good day to you sir, i am a young architect , living in mexico, and just today i discover your proyects QB1, QB2 and QB3, i fell in love with the QB2, an im thinking about making it my life proyect, i dont wanna buy a house, nor settle down on a place of land, for a while. Me and my architect wife, want to travel around the contry, and we think this design could be the answer, i just wanna know, if theres a place where i can find the plans for it, or do i need to buy them.

Please contact Trevor Wright, trevor@boltonbuildings.co.uk , for details." www.herts.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/80347/CubeFAQ3.0.pdf www.boltonbuildings.co.uk/

QB1 caught a lot of flack, undeservedly so, in my opinion. I like the improvements in QB2, my only major dislike is the sleeping area. Also, someone else mentioned the stairs could be placed into the storage area & pulled out when needed, I think that would work better & be much safer. I'd also be ok w/losing a bit more space in the kitchen to have a proper stair to the bedroom area, that provides storage, & a bigger fridge could be tucked into it.
@mizzpoetrics7 жыл бұрын
Actually, looking at the space again, the stairs I'd like wouldn't work unless I borrowed space elsewhere.
@jenniferhill87765 жыл бұрын
Agreed if you see qb3 it's a completely different style and set up. I think they should take the qb2 and just make the cube bigger so that it has more space and is more attractive to a couple. And as others have said, being able to sleep on the main floor is a good option
