A look at 4th Edition D&D play on Foundry

I run through one round of a combat encounter using the 4e D&D system module on Foundry. It's just me moving some pieces around, but should give a quick introduction and a good flavour of it.
Perhaps a streamed series of 4e games to follow? As a minimum I'd like to get some 4e play up and running on Foundry.

I'd be interested in a 4e actual play series (doesn't necessarily have to be livestreamed-it could be recorded and then edited down, if that's preferable). I'd love to be able to refer the 4e-curious to a series that they can check out.

I want to thank you for the videos you are uploading of D&D 4th edition and I am glad to know that there are still people who like this edition. I've been playing this edition since it came out, and even though I have manuals for other editions, phatfinder, D&D 5th edition, 1st edition retroclones, or dungeon crawling classics, I still stick with 4th edition. I really like the strategic-tactical game that it offers me with the background of role-playing and epic fantasy. In Spain it was heavily criticized and the publisher that translated the books stopped translating. I have everything that was translated into Spanish except the player 3 manual. I've played with friends, but usually I play alone, playing the master and carrying all the characters (I have house rules to do it). Thanks. All the best.

great vid! the only proper one I found going over 4e. how do added effects like the barbarian rage work? Are they automatic? or does the player need to manually add temp hit points every time he or she starts a turn within range of the effect?

My question is how did you make the characters. The SRDs I am finding are quite bad.

I used the offline character builder, which has many of the options that 4e created over its core publishing years. It's very quick to create characters but can take you down strange paths unless you are thoughtful about the Feats selected.

In addition to the base 4th Edition system, there are a number of modules that will bring you a lot of tools for play: D&D 4e Compendium, Dracs 4E tools for Foundry VTT, D&D 4e Compendium - Legacy Monsters and Fox's 4e Styling. In terms of a tutorial, I think there's nothing better than getting into a game to play and learn as you go. The D&D 4th Edition Discord is one place to find players: discord.gg/XcM96wVF There has also been a flurry of KZbin interest, so watching some of the videos might give some pointers? I also have the offline compendium, but how did you get it into Foundry? I can’t make a json file from any entry. Did you use Excalibur to pull the tables from the pdfs?

There are some helpful modules, but no full compendium. Search for Arcacius's and Dracs or just plain '4e' in Modules and they give you a leg up. Everything else hand typed. I really wish the full compendium was available, but there we are!
