I really like the idea that you start out with blocks and then can kind of like, sculpt them to the shape you want. Whether diagonal, round, or with chunks inside taken out. It will allow people to do a lot more detail.

Yeah, this game will most likely die on launch honestly. You cannot compete with Minecraft mainly due to brand recognition alone. P.S this game just looks lower quality (i know it`s in pre-alpha, but the game just looks pure ugly imo) I`d be surprised to see it even launch.

I don't think it'll surpass Minecraft, but it seems like a possible competitor. It really has to jump leaps and bounds to surpass Minecraft, because there is so much that it got right, that I think Reforj might struggle to compete, and I worry that people will see it as a rip-off. But who knows? Maybe Reforj is the next 15-year mainstay!

Hytale and Reforj focus on different aspects of Minecraft. Hytale is more focus on community created content as that's what Hypixel is. 4J is focusing more on the average player experience. I follow Hytale news, and they heavily focus on creator tools, which is why it has taken them so long. They realized half way through that Java isn't the best language for a game and recoded everything in C++. Right now I wouldn't be surprised if they released the game in the next 4 years. Both games are trying to compete with different aspects of Minecraft, and I'm excited for both.

I think their main thing to do is give it a gimmick, there needs to be a reason to play this game rather than other games. They probably have one not shown yet though, but also the art style could use some work, otherwise it seems amazing

People should look into Eco Survival. It's a voxel based world with more in-depth physics. Also, it's a literal planet. You can go around it, and you also see earth curving down into the horizon. It's a bit of a pain with its progression but it can be tweaked

Im having serious deja vou right now, because this exact thing happened with the minecraft movie, less than 60 seconds of footage came out, and everyone hated it which it didt deserve, sure, judge the movie once you watch it, or at least a *full* trailer. But now that the trailer came out, everyone is feeling pretty good about it. I feel like this same thing is happening, this game is getting a lot of hate it doesnt deserve and should be compared to minecrafts pre alpha.

This just looks like heavily modded Minecraft lol, guess you can't really go in any other direction when it comes to 'upgrading' the Minecraft formula. I see xaeros minimap, not all cubes, tree chopping All jokes aside this looks pretty cool, I don't care much about the graphics but they do need to plan out some mobs and bosses that look distinct from Minecraft's, otherwise people will just see it as a mine knockoff. The reason why the graphics are the worst part about it is because whenever a game is in its early stages the graphics are literally the least important thing. The programming and gameplay comes first, It would be embarrassing if their tech demo did look really HD because it literally has no reason to.
