I'm surprised there aren't more comments here. I found your explanation very useful. And your candid comments about not knowing what you were doing when you first started very refreshing. (I was sort of the same way when I started doing web design.) I'm a web/graphic designer dropped into a eLearning developer job for a government contractor. We're pretty much following the same steps, but in a roundabout way.
