A look at people presenting for gambling treatment from the past to the present: 1990 to 2024

This session begins by looking at changes in the gaming industry from the 1990s till 2024. Secondly, we look at and compare Dr. Robert Custer’s treatment admissions and the early evaluation tools and lingo with today’s testing and research based evaluation tools.
This session also looks at demographic data collected to compare those who entered treatment from the 90s to the present including the shift in types and vehicles used by gamblers to gamble.
Jerry Bauerkemper is a Consultant with the Iowa Department of Public Health and retired Executive Director of the Nebraska Council on Compulsive Gambling. Mr. Bauerkemper was the first Director of Problem Gambling for the state of Nebraska and is an internationally recognized trainer on problem gambling.
