The Traveling Merchant is a pretty weird NPC. We all love to see him and hate it when all he sells are fancy dishes and team blocks. This video goes over all the little quirks with the merchant.

Remember, the gun merchant’s requirement to spawn is the player owning 1 gun. Any gun. So the TM selling guns means the gun merchant can show up even earlier in your game.

The MegaChad Outpost from Starbound -The game doesn't have wandering trader NPCs, so, this is the only option. -You don't find the outpost, the outpost finds you. -Sells like half of the items found in-game. -Important place lore-wise. -NPCs actually say something based on the lore and action of players throughout the game, not just "Hmm" "Horrr" "Huhrrr" or...actually, that puts wandering trader in a lower spot, because wayfaring also says a whole dialogue. -Monsters doesn't spawn, the chadness of this place will instantly delete any hostile monsters ever existed. -It has a toilet... *which NPCs actually uses*

( a villager with 2 Llamas with him .. he sells useless junk such as lillypads.. corals tropical fishies etc .. he shows up near villages and when it's night he drinks invisibility potions to hide ... i usually kill him to get the leads he uses to hold the llamas around .. he is too similar to the traveling merchant .. he was added in the 1.14 village and pillage update

Some of his gear is too expensive to be balanced in my eyes, especially the magic gear, they’re either ridiculously rare, super expensive, or BOTH, which makes it hard to be useful. The only time the gypsy rope and the magic hat are useful is very early game, pre-Eater of Worlds, but they both cost several cost, and they’re so rare that you can’t find them before that time is up usually. Plus the Zapinators are SO RARE, I’ve had hundreds of Travs on my last 3 playthroughs and I haven’t found anything except one grey one. The arcane rune walls are epic though btw, I love them, they’re great for small details and accents in wizard tower builds.
