I visited the 1972 Olympic Village in Munich primarily to visit the location and memorials relating to the hostage siege. This video focuses on the village itself.

4:48 „and behind me is the first of two memorials“ - it‘s the fourth of four memorials. there is one at Connollystraße 31, one at the northend of the stadium roof, one at Fürstenfeldbruck airport, and the one you are showing is the fourth one.

0:50 „this is where the israeli athletes were murdered“ - you are showing Helene-Mayer-Ring 2 on the right and Connollystraße 4 ahead if you. the Munich massacre took place on Connollystraße 31.

Actually only two people - wrestling coach Moshe Weinberg and weightlifter Yossef Romano - were killed inside Block 31. The rest of the Israeli athletes and coaches were killed at Fürstenfeldbruck airbase.

You did not find the terror attack place actually, in Connollystraße 31, on the front of one high house. It is quite remarkable place actually from start, with modern art sculptures and fountains. Which makes the place specially strange, it has only little free space between two houses and the window of room where hostages were kept is pretty low although on the second floor. It rises a lot of questions. Why the terrorists were not observed and/or shot from the windows of the higher house? It was really easy. Why some terrorist felt themselves quite free, just walked around the balcony and on the front of house, very close to hundreds of windows? Why hostages did not try to jump out of their window although it was very low? etc et

To answer your questions: The terrorists were not shot at because any sane police officer knew that shooting one of the lookouts would mean that the others inside would immediately shoot all the hostages. The hostages couldn’t jump because they were tied up, with AK-47s trained on them the whole time. They’d have been dead before they hit the ground.

@@BassPlyr23 and then the police shot the terrorist in the airfield where the the hostages were in the same situation like in the dormitory. Brilliant, just brilliant.

@@marguskiis7711 the police attempted to ambush the terrorists at the airfield. The plan failed because they didn’t have enough sharpshooters, and the field was so badly lit that the police couldn’t see their targets.

the hostages were tied up wrist to wrist, and they were guarded by terrorists. the hostages were sat on two beds, with the wounded Yussuf Romano lying between them, after he has been shot in his lungs. They had to watch him bleeding to death slowly.

Living there is extremely expensive, there you pay for a condo, which is a bit bigger than a hotel room, 150.000 up to 200.000$. Students now live in the former Olympic women's village.
