Never heard anything about that, the Melee set, I don't think that's true. However Jakks Pacific just announced they're making Dr. Mario merchandise, so a plush may come from their World of Nintendo line.

Oh man that's really cool! Yeah sets like these were really pieces of their time, if you got them when they first came out, they were easy to get but now after so many years you just simply can't find many anymore. Tons of Sanei plush sets have become like this such as the Pikmin 2, Animal Crossing Wild World, and Sonic sets. Hope you take good care of them! You're really lucky.

While I never saw these in person, I sure do have a lot of regrets. Like, too many to list here hah. One of the bigger ones is from a 2013 set of Sonic plushes by Sanei, the entire set is actually pretty rare now, and I picked up them all... besides Amy, and now she's the rarest of them all! Good call me. I also had the chance to get lots of Jazwares Sonic figures that are rare now, but I didn't get them. I could make like an entire video about collecting regrets lol.

It seems sellers having old plushes they don't know of stored in warehouses is more common than you think. I just got four new BD&A plushes (Wingcap Mario, Bowser, Yoshi & DK) in perfect condition for about $100, the seller had them in a box for about 23 years and never used them in a display or anything.
