It seems harsh but stealing things in a country where most of the people only earn a couple of dollars a day is dangerous. People don't have time for courts and legal maneuvering. They and their neighbors will lynch a thief right there and then as a deterrent. That's why most thieves run straight to the police if caught stealing.

No news. All African prisons are like this. This one is a little bit improved coz I saw some mattresses and blankets. Most prisons inmates have to farm there own food. Buckets are the only means of convenience and they're inside a cell with 1 small window with 100 of inmates. Imagine the stench. You should fight every day for sleeping rights. Weak inmates are the ones to dispose of waste buckets. I found a guy who has spent 10yrs on remand for stealing a chicken and he is awaiting trial. The reason I was put in prison I was arrested for idle and disorderly that took me 9months to serve until my family paid a ransom. In Africa just have money, don't talk abt the government then every thing will be alright
