Happy new year!! I love when i start the year with a great read, sets me up for a good reading month! I went on a birthday writing retreat at the weekend and it was glorious getting to hot tub in very cold weather and getting all the words too!

It has been a great reading month so far. Lots of good reads. Maybe not many great ones but several good. Oh, I'm jealous of the hot tub. Never tried one of those but always wanted to. I'd bet it would feel amazing compared to the weather we've been having.

I'm definitely doing the novellas as ebooks, then a group of them together for an omnibus version in paperback and digital thing. Got a novella published on the 1st, and got a realistic publishing deadline/goal set up for the whole year! Let's crush it!

You've got this! What's the novellas you published on the first? Deadlines and I don't get along when I'm the one who sets them so this ought to be an interesting year... Realistic publishing deadlines are awesome to have and I'm already realizing a lot of mine are not realistic to the kind of writing and editing I do, but that's OK! You learn through trial and error. I just seem to be taking more steps back than forward at the moment. Eventually there will be more steps forward as I find a process that fully works for me.

I agree! As long as we're moving forward, we'll get there. Eventually. It's just not gonna be the straight forward path we'd been hoping for, but instead a winding and curvy one.

Wow such a long video! Love it! I’m planning on getting back into writing by publishing a novella sooon. This month has been slow going with writing for me, but I did read a book!

What book did you read? Was it a good one? Yay! Publishing a novella soon sounds like a great way to get back into writing.

@@SDHegyes it was an audio book Jesse and I listened to at night over the course of a week. It was Delicate Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan.

That name sounds familiar, so I looked it up to see if I've read anything by her, and I couldn't figure out why I thought I'd read something by her because I haven't... It's because I read The Mermaid's Sister by Carrie Anne Noble... I feel like an idiot, but why are their names so similar?!? Only the surname (and the spelling of the middle name) is different! Gah!

@@SDHegyes I know what you mean! It’s one reason why I go by initials since there’s another romance author with my same first and last name!

A great video. I have run into the same challenge of my writing plans being hijacked by shiny ideas. I feel you about finding the balance between work, family, and writer life.

It's so hard to find that balance and then keep it once you have it...
