Crow last names come from their houses. Viago is the Talon of house de Riva. The crow Rook is a member of house de Riva (possibly purchased, and definitely trained by the house), so Viago is their boss. They are most likely not related, unless you are able to make your Rook another royal bastard.

I like that none of the characters we've seen so far seem to fall into stereotypical pitfalls. Bellara is cute and upbeat and could have been a complete airhead but instead she is extremely intelligent, sweet, and resourceful. Lucanis is brooding and has a dark side and could have been pigeon holed as a rude, bad boy with a heart of gold type but instead he's very sweet, caring, and seems to put other over himself. I am really impressed with this game so far. I think the story is going to be amazing.

As an Antivan Crow, you aren't necessarily related to Viago, just that you're in his House and everyone adopts the name. But he's still very much your boss and i cannot wait to meet him❤❤❤❤❤

Antivan crows don’t have last names. They represent houses. So while no, you aren’t Viago’s relative, as the Talon of House De Riva, he is your boss’s boss and you do represent him… so that’s neat x)

"De Rivia" just means "of/from Rivia" I dont think it's necessarily a familial name in a traditional sense. It might be like "Snow" or "Sand" in GoT.

No, the Crows are divided into Houses. The main houses leaders are Talons or head of houses basically. Viago is the 5th Talon (out of 8 with the 1st being the most powerful) and the Head of House De Riva. Some Houses are made of blood related members but most are not I don't think since Crows often purchase slaves in groups from childhood with only a few surviving the harsh lifestyle, often being encouraged to kill each other. As far as I can tell, if someone is skilled enough they can be adopted into a House. So there is likely no blood relation to Viago. He's just basically the Antivan Crow Rook's Boss.
