SpongeBob SquarePants, The Cuphead Show, Adventure Time and The Owl House. These wildly popular animated shows, like every big TV cartoon in existence, have a crew of talented people making them real. The only problem? Animation workers aren't being treated fairly.
In the past few months, there's been a massive push from those working in the animation industry. Whether it be in TV or movies, working at Cartoon Network or Netflix, writer or artist, everyone's coming together with one goal in mind: to get better treatment. A new deal in animation is being fought for, and we can help the cause!

Animators are the real reasons why they created people’s childhood to what kind of creativity to represent a bunch of people who tuned in and as soon as people get older in life the producers and owners of each corporation company had started to go down hill as they started to make changes to think that it just doesn’t appeal to new and old audiences. But this is why it’s great for them to take a stand after many years of hard work when it comes creating cartoons that literally paved the way for entertainment for each program of their support especially when it comes to pop culture.

In a sense they are man. The sad thing is they don't get alot of credit mainly because the corporations they work for don't feel they deserve it. That's why you're seeing a huge shift in indie animation. People want to own and create their works instead of working for big corporations with less credit and pay

At least with animation, the art style can vary. That is just one reason why animators should get more respect. On the other hand, live action programming is all just the same regardless of the genre. No matter if you're destined be an actor/actress or not, we're all born in only a single art style, and we couldn't do a thing about that.

From my understanding, part of the issues come down to out of sight out of mind idea meaning people assume animators just sit and draw behind a desk with little effort when in reality there is a different type of working hard being put into play that might not look like your typical definition of work. Each job has its sets of challenges, demands and time put in. I am glad creators are trying to change things and get the recognition they deserve. The biggest thing I have seen similar to this is when Dimaggio was asked to come back as Bender but insisted that if he does, there is a willingness to compromise increased pay for everyone involved in creating it. I don't know the result of that but I hope it was positive.

Just hope most don't get entitled. Problem nowaday is linked to conveniances making people lazy to the point the work-load of a 2000s animator will be consider 'overhelming' for a 2030s animator I love animators and believe they should get more recognition, but some complaints are exagerated and other expect compensation for uncomplete/lazy work or even stuff they sent oversea to be done by underpaid asian animators

The worst thing of all is your cartoon randomly getting cancelled for no reason so you have to force in an ending, and lose money in the process because of all the ideas you had to make episodes were flushed down the toilet.

For out of the top five streamed movies were animated. Well, that's because animation is being exiled to streaming now days, because studios don't think they are "real" enough movies for a valid theatrical release.

100% sign me up for this. I’m getting pretty sick of corporations breathing down animators’ necks so that they make sure anything they create is to THEIR STANDARDS and not to the creativity of the artists and writers. I personally always wanted to animate myself. A series that I always wanted to do was one loosely based on my Skyrim characters adventures. It’s title “Skyrim: The Song of Pale-Blood”

Yea a lot of this is true. I’m trying to break into the field myself and my college basically sees burnout, art block, and illness like weaknesses. A lot of students within the art school world that I’ve seen are trained into believing that grind culture is good and if you try to do a good work life balance you aren't a true artist and will fail. Most of my classmates and I see this as bs and slow change in schools to teach students healthy work life balances and other issues. I hope that this trend will become a reality of healthier work life for workers, more appreciation and understanding for the medium.

The workers are typically the foot of the force though, i mean, you should absolutely take care of your feet as they're critical for your long term survival, but functionally, they're the ones that take the new stomping frontier to your life / success of your company, and the big producers, directors et cetera... are the brains.

I know people who think of cartoons as lesser shows somehow because supposedly they're just for kids. Which is the other side of the coin as to why the wonderful creators of them aren't treated with respect; even the companies that work for seem to have the same mindset and don't see their work nearly as important as some bigger stuff "for adults" While cartoons can and do appeal to children, they're not just for them. That's the beauty of cartoons, they can be enjoyed by anyone, if people just gave them a chance.
