Hmm . . . As someone who used to work in movie theaters when I was in college, it would be interesting to know if this problem has ever been found in movie theater employees. The “butter” used on movie theater popcorn is actually oil with butter flavoring, the same as microwave popcorn, so I can imagine it could have the same affects.

Fun fact: Diacetyl is where the big vape scare initially came from. It used to be used to enhance the flavor of a lot of vape liquids and caused a few cases of popcorn lung. It's not used in vape liquids anymore because of many of the findings mentioned in this video. :)

actually it never caused a single case of popcorn lung. it was banned out of an abundance of caution. there's more diacetyl in cigarette smoke than even buttered popcorn flavored vape juice.
@NozomuYume3 жыл бұрын
@@Zreknarf Yup. The REALLY big vape scare where people actually died was from marijuana vape fluids that used vitamin E acetate as a thickening agent. Vape fluid really needs to be regulated, but the way the FDA wants to regulate it is incredibly onerous because they want to have a $100k study done on each individual product if even one ingredient differs in quantity, instead of just having studies to approve the ingredients. e.g. you could have separate strawberry flavor and a banana flavor vape juice and pay money to have each approved, but if you wanted to have a strawberry banana flavor you'd have to get THAT studied and approved too even though it was made of the same stuff as the separate flavors.
@Zreknarf3 жыл бұрын
@@NozomuYume i mean i can see some sense to that. elemental sodium is dangerous to humans, elemental chlorine is dangerous to virtually all life, but NaCl is delicious. it would be fun if they ran those $100k studies on each of the 7000+ combustion products in a cigarette.

I have my own reasons for being careful around popcorn. One time, years ago, I had an abscessed tooth extracted which left a nice gap in my teeth. Ever since then my concerns with popcorn stemmed from the fear that the parts that get stuck between your teeth may get stuck inside that gap where the tooth was extracted.

*What I expected when clicking this recommendation:* To develop an immediate phobia of popcorn and increased anxiety about my well-being. *What I got:* An itchy discomfort seeing faces drawn realistically but without noses. Keep up the great work, I guess? 😫

I switched from microwave popcorn bags to seeds in a silicon bowl a long time ago. I can control the ingredients that way, no more preservatives or artificial stuff.

Is this ONLY microwave popcorn? Or movie theater popcorn? I have a "spinner" popper and use REAL movie theater popcorn with coconut oil flavored with "butter" flavoring and butter flavored salt.

Google might have the ingredients, but check out the chemistry behind them.

It's specifically the flavoring, so no matter how you prepare it, it's a risk if you eat it excessively (as in, twice a day, every day, for ten years lol)
NOTE TO SELF: don't ever do anything that will get me famous, or else Brew will make me into a horrifying noseless cartoon character monstrosity of myself.

Everytime Chill or Grill does something, Brew's right there. Standing, in the corner next to the coffee machine, waiting for any serious health or mental instabilities those two undergo. They cannot escape the factoids.
