Sherlock Holmes is one of those literary characters like Hamlet who will never fade from culture and will be around long after we are dust.

James Holder he’s talked a bit about Agatha Christie is a couple of his videos this month. I think one of them was the mystery starter kit video. I think he suggested two of her books, murder on the orient express being one of them.

I think the mysteries I read were rather different and I didn't get fed up with them. I started three new series and now it's going to be tough chose when I want to rest my mind on some detective story.

I love scandal in Bohemia. Red headed league is also great. Study in scarlet and sign of the four were really good too. I wasn't in love with hound of the baskervilles but I thought I would really like it. Kind of a let down.

And don't forget there is a story in which Holmes comes across that other great Victorian gentleman; Harry Flashman. In "Flashman and the Tiger" Holmes comes across Flashy skulking in an alleyway and proceeds to get most of his deductions wrong.
