The BoP is tiny compared to the gigantic Enterprise. Both ships scaled to their respective sizes. Music from "The Shadow" - This track has a lot of "Trek" similarities to it, since after all was composed by Jerry Goldsmith!

As far as I remember, I could be wrong but it's what I remember, there were different types of the BoP, there were the smaller ones we were always used to but apparently there are bigger and more heavily armed ones that were made as the series progressed, but really I have a feeling part of that was just studio models scaling being off and explained away in some obscure part of the canon

I thought the first two in the Original Trilogy did scaling well (enough). ANH, going from the blockade runner to the Star Destroyer. Then The SD to the Death Star, then showing the sheer size of DS compared to the puny X-wings. Same for Empire. Then came ROTJ, which I thought did a poor job. Not sure if it was the director’s fault or something else. Example, that exciting last-second “All craft, pull up” where all the starfighters fell back and it looked like they were still quite a distance away from DS2.

@NightRunner4173 жыл бұрын
@@ProvVFX Yes. I'm heavily into 3d printing for a broad array of household and hobby needs and I use Lightwave to do all my modeling. I've been using it forever and a day so it's simpler for me to just keep using it rather than climb another program's learning ladder.
@ProvVFX3 жыл бұрын
@@NightRunner417 Lightwaves is perfect for this. I learned modeling in 3dsmax, but I prefer LW's robust rendering capabilities and it's a program with an excellent intuitive interface that doesn't get in the way of the artist.
@NightRunner4173 жыл бұрын
@@ProvVFX I did try 3dsmax like a zillion years ago but didn't like it a bit. Hard to really remember but my feeling was like everything about it was difficult. I was trying out LW around the same time and ended up just sticking with LW rather than trying to handle two steep learning curves at the same time. I never did much with it, just some misc primitive efforts with animation and art. Then came 3d printing and I suddenly realized that if I could convert my lwo objects to obj or stl, then I could be unstoppable with real world design. Unstoppable may be a bit of a stretch but really, there are far less limits than there are possibilities. I used to buy radio shack project enclosures for electronic design, like $5 and up per simple plastic box. Now I manufacture my own design for any size pcb or breadboard with lid and any custom cutouts for a bit less than $2 each even for big ones. Even managed to have it print my nickname into the inside, lol. Coil formers, turbine parts, hangers, containers, tools, brackets, many microscope and camera parts, directional microphone parts, even designed a plastic rocket parts set for Estes engines. All thanks to LW3D. I adore that program. :-)
@ProvVFX3 жыл бұрын
@@NightRunner417 cool! I used to built multicopters and wanted to try a 3d printer, but went with a cnc router to create my own parts. Max has a steep learning curve, it took me almost a year to just feel more or less at home with it, and I still haven't navigated all the options it has nowadays. LW is like a good camera that doesn't get in the way of the photographer.
