A Massive Overhaul!! Update No Man's Sky Worlds Part 1 Update
The Worlds update is here for No Man's Sky! This is Worlds Part 1, and it overhauls so much about the game. The planets have been overhauled with new plants, animals and skies. Even the water has been overhauled! There is a new wind engine and new clouds. The Worlds update massively changes the game, so here are some of the details for this gigantic update.

I have wondered how Hello Games has been able to sustain development without much revenue. They must have banked almost all the initial sales and have been running off that. Sure they get new people to buy, however with sales/lower price and just numbers doesn't seem like it can compare to how long they've been adding to the game without additional charges.

This is pretty much a wake up call to any and every gaming studio that says “we can’t go back and rework the code” like nah, you don’t *want* to rework it because you don’t really care. This studio is amazing. It’s insane the amount of love and passion they’ve poured into NMS even while working on their new game. The concept of adding a new feature or cool feature to their new game and going “maybe NMS should have this too, let’s add it” is so mind-boggling rare of any studio to do. I doubt Sean reads any KZbinr’s video comments but, we love you man. Thank you and thank every one in the team for this amazing world you’ve all created.

@@TheVinchenzo130 Of all the PCVR games I've got to run on my Q3, NMS was the hardest to dial in. I learned a lot in the process. What I came up with starts with Virtual Desktop. That made everything else possible. Using Quest Link, air or cable, it just couldn't even get started. Once I got Virtual Desktop, I was able to dial in the settings to get NMS running smoothing on my RTX4060. Last night when I played after the update, I had to dial back a few settings. It still looks better overall than before. I'm sure with my extra time on this weekend, I'll be able to tweak things back up to the point where my rig is running as max as possible while giving me the smooth smooth.

Hello has learned this lesson and cd projekt red had to learn this lesson with cyberpunk and now they are both on the podium for top games in their genre in my opinion. (Edit) Hello Games has created this amazing culture in gaming where Sean posts emojis and everyone knows whats up. He genuinely seems excited about sharing his creations with as many people as possible. As I´ve been mentioning to everyone, this is the update I´ve always been waiting for since the first update. My "gameplay" on this game was mostly walking for hours, admiring the views and "photograph" my favorite places. So geographic diversity and variations on the planets was always the thing I wanted to see every time an update was announced, but rarely got it as the updates mostly focused on gameplay features. Im part of the 2016 players ,maybe of the few that loved the game from the start, precisely because it was like an hiking simulator, which for a guy like me who loves hiking in real life was a videogame come true. I was really disapointed when Next came out, because the original terrain generation that I loved in the 2016 version was totally replaced by more naturalistic terrains that deleted the original epic alien abstract feel of the original 2016 worlds, that since Next were no longer in the game. So for years I´ve been hoping for a planetary overall that gave me more reasons to just keep walking and keep "photographing". I´ve deleted all my saves in NMS. I´m starting from the beggining to enjoy the game as if was a new game. It feels like a new game. I´ve explored a bit on the first two worlds and for now, I´m absolutely impressed with what was done with the planets views. Now there´s geographic features somewhere in the horizon that really make me want to hike there just to see how the landscape will look like from that point. The natural feel of the worlds does not bother me anymore because the whole scenery looks truly epic. I´m playing on the PS5 and so far zero bugs or glitches. The water looks really cool. I´m sure I have lots to discover yet, but so far , to me this is the best update ever ! And if this is Part 1 for the planets ... wow... I cannot wait to see what they will call Part 2. I hope they bring back those epic columns of gold and copper and materials, like it was in the 2016 and also restore those alien looking coil archway rocks that brought such an alien world feel to some of the planets. And some procedural generated "archeology" stuff for us to explore...maybe a buried city somewhere or something. Overall, as a professional illustrator and real life hiker myself, this new version of NMS is really a dream come true, when it comes to atmosphere and inspiration.

Awesome roundup of the new patch! For me, there are only two things left to add in NMS: -lategame items to farm/explore/trade for like new materials, armor, tools, blueprints for whole buildings (expanding your dynasty even faster) etc. -after reaching certain endgame goals you unlock the privilege to buy space rocks to build your own stations

All you’re talking about is how Hello Games did a terrible job initially with the game and to save their reputation they stuck with it and went beyond. You didn’t say anything about how they’re able to make the money to stick with the game and continue development. So again thank you for taking the time to respond. If you would like to actually provide insight on how you think they’re making enough money by all means go for it, but don’t come back to me saying how you answered my initial question but I just didn’t like the answer because that horse is dead and I will not be beating it.

I still remember the angry Joe review when NMS first came out. I remember it almost word for word the entire episode. Because of that, I didn't touch the game for about 3 years after it released. When I finally got it, I became hooked. I fell in love. To watch this game go from what it was when it first released, from the video of Joe ripping the game apart to now seeing it become a full-fledged masterpiece and truly an expression of modern art, I am thankful to be a part of this community. To further help support the game, I will be pre-ordering light no fire. I know that the studio can do good, and they have proven that now. They are dedicated, they are committed, and they deserve the best.

Promise." I, for one, rolled my eyes. Great. A live service. So basically every other company. And now here we are 8 years later and we are singing their praises because for ONCE, a company did what they said. I am so excited to see this indie game getting a AAA makeover. This is definitely a big piece of the puzzle when it comes to scratching that itch of an immersive space game of infinite exploration. But there's still a long way to go. Heres what I think would tie it all together Immersive buildings: The small structures scattered about are far too repetitive. Would be great to see some larger procedurally generated dungeons/ruines with various challenges and archetechtual styles. Deeper caves: a massive overhaul is much needed here. Exploring caves feels limited when you always know you're only one or two downward slopes away from reaching bedrock. I would love to see large underground openings, something like what minecraft has done in their more recent updates. Deeper Oceans: I feel that i have no reason to use a submarine when im only ever going down around 100us at the most. It would be awesome to see massive underwater trenches, maybe some underwater structures or cities too. I am still looking forward to seeing what direction they take this new engine update. Their dedication to making this game into something that lets you live out your dreams of infinite exploration is always leaving me with hope for the future of its development.

What i wish they would do, is stop terrain from randomly filling in any base you have either on the surface or underground. Its so frustrating building a really cool base, and logging back in after an update to find my entire base is encased in rock and i cant get rid of it all because of the decorations being in the way. The other thing is planets changing. I had a perfect paradise planet a while back, built a massive base on it and after an update I logged in and it turned into a toxic swamp planet .. This game is incredible and i absolutely love it, if they managed to fix these two things, then for me the game would be almost perfect! I really hope one day they can!
