CMIT organizes a regular series where talks are delivered by faculties, grad students, post-grad students, or visitor speakers on varied topics in pure and applied Mathematics that are beyond the scope of the standard curriculum, with the purpose of giving more exposure to the students.
Title: A Mathematical study to the continuous coagulation fragmentation models
Speaker: Dr. Prasanta Kumar Barik, Postdoctoral fellow, IISER Thiruvananthapuram
Abstract: Coagulation is a dynamic process in which two or more clusters aggregate to form a larger cluster, whereas in the fragmentation process a larger cluster breaks into small size clusters due to the external forces, automatically and collision between clusters. The combined form of the coagulation and fragmentation model is quite interesting. These types of models have many applications in engineering, astrophysics, such as raindrop formation.
