(Joe) What is peace? For most of my life, I’ve thought of peace as something still-quiet, serene, like a breath that slows the world down. I pictured it as a calm space where everything felt untouched. But recently, my wife shared something that shifted my perspective. She said peace is relative. For her, peace isn’t just stillness-it’s vibrant, alive. It’s like a rainbow. When she told me this, I couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t just an idea-it was a memory. She told me her first memory of peace was from kindergarten when she painted a rainbow in art class. She said when she stepped back to look at it, she was astonished. All that time, she had been so close to each detail, but from a distance, she saw something incredible. The colors-the reds, the blues, the greens-came together in a way that took her breath away. She marveled at how the contrasts-the warmth of reds against cool blues, the brightness of yellow against calming green-weren’t just separate. They were complementary. They belonged together. In that moment, she realized peace isn’t about uniformity, but about the beauty found in differences coming together. This made me think of a moment in the Bible, In Genesis 9, when God placed a rainbow in the sky after the flood. It wasn’t just a beautiful sight-it was a divine sign of peace, unity, and restoration. God told Noah: “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come. I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” (Genesis 9:12-13) The rainbow wasn’t just a promise to never flood the earth again. It was a reminder that God can take contrasts-the highs and lows, the light and dark-and weave them together into something beautiful. A symbol of unity, of bringing together what was once broken. In the same way, when families unite, when we come together, we bring our own unique colors-our joys, our struggles, our passions. And yes, sometimes those energies clash. But when we step back, we see that those differences create something greater than the sum of their parts. Something whole, something beautiful. Peace, then, is not about uniformity. It’s about unity. It’s about seeing how the contrasts of our lives fit together, just like the rainbow. And just like God’s covenant with Noah, peace is a divine promise-that even in the midst of chaos, we can find beauty in the coming together of differences. A promise that one day, all things will unite in perfect harmony. Peace is found in unity. Peace is found in family. And in the promise of the rainbow, we are reminded that even the contrasts of life can and will come together in perfect peace.

This is so poetic, and yes indeed the Lord always keeps his promises with his children. I have a very similar memory in art class, while in kindergarten. I remember drawing the rainbow but never perceived it as such, but the colors are indeed beautiful 🙌

Ajedi has a great sense of humour. It’s so dry. I love that he loves books. And Butters looks SO much like Ajedi. I see his sense of humour coming through, and he seems very comfortable with the camera. He’s so unbothered and independent. He’s like a grown man in a baby’s body. Love it! 😄 Alena’s sister sounds just like her. 😮 The oldest girls are growing so beautifully. Love to see Azaio coming out of her shell more. Her looks at the camera reminds me of the office. 😂 Arazo taking good care of the smaller ones as usual and the montage of her dancing with the dog outside was too funny. 🤣🤣She’s such a lovely middle sister. Y’all are so funny in different ways. Ajaiu and Ajoui are cute as always. 🤗 Joe admitting to having a bite of the tiramisu and Alena’s death stare cracked me up. Alena is so unserious, “why would Amyah come back from college and lie?” 😅😂🤣 What was that about Tia Araba don’t play? 😅 The extended family are beautiful. This was indeed your best vlog post ever, and I've seen most of your videos. The content spoke volumes regarding family gatherings, especially for African Americans. Wow! From the gifts to the beautiful dog, the importance of making children the priority, simple meals, healthy meals, the emphasis on books and education, safety in Bear County, setting group rules, etc. This video was heart-felt and invited people to share private moments.
