"A Means To Control People!" | Ex-Police Detective Hits Out At Non-Crime Hate Incidents

Police are to be given new guidance over non-crime hate incidents following the Allison Pearson debacle.
Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson said she was wearing her dressing gown when she was spoken to by two constables from Essex Police on Remembrance Sunday, about a year-old post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
News of the visit sparked a backlash, including from former Conservative prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, who both called the incident “appalling”, and X owner Elon Musk.
Former police detective Mike Neville says: “These non-crime hate incidents are nothing more than a means to control people.”

If it is decided that the incident is a non-crime, then no Police attendance should be required. Police should only attend real crimes. If it continues Chief Constables should lose their jobs. The Police can describe a person who makes a complaint a victim, only a judge can, they a complainant and he/she who alleges must prove. ‘Hate’ is subjective and should not be criminalised.

The obvious question that is not asked is why allow the police to record non-crime hate incidents (NCHI) on the DBS system as this is a concern since the purpose of DBS is to disclose criminal convictions and police cautions. A NCHI is not the same as a police caution, which is a formal warning where someone accepts committing an offense. A NCHI is subjective based on perception and consequently is very much open to abuse, false accusations and maliciousness. NCHI was developed under previous Tory administrations since 2010.

United Nations 10 December 1984 (resolution 39/46) The Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was adopted by the UN general assembly. I believe the logging of non-crime hate incidents without evidence or thorough investigation contravenes the UN act. It can destroy careers and causes distress and humiliation to the accused without due process.
