Awesome video, thanks! After watching your videos for a while I can look at my mouthpieces differently. Really cool.

I found a NY Meyer clarinet mouthpiece in a case with an old Leblanc student instrument. I plays incredibly well.

I've played some different alto pieces over the years: Claude Lakey, Gregory, Runyon Spoiler, Meyer. Finally settled on a Wolfe Tayne 7 (h.b.) for about 35 years ! Recently I've been playing a Vandoren AS 5 + and so far so good. !

I have a cheap Chinese saxophone from Amazon ( Eastar) but I use a Meyer 6 and I love it. I bought a pro tech neck strap and a used hard case from Facebook. Market place. Having fun over here in Anaheim. Im looking to join a mariachi banda.

I only do Meyer since 1979. Why switch? It's simply the best.

I am a beginner and use Yamaha 4C. It sounds very flat commercial, and soulless compared to a Meyer. I want to use a Meyer mouthpiece to develop my skills on an alto sax because they truly have beautiful "tone" that is neither on the bright nor on the dark side, and combines a colorful spectrum of the melody from the youtube videos I've watched. What do you really recommend to a beginner if he/she wants to stick with a Meyer brand? Very informative video. Thank you.

If you want to stick close to a meyer there's the 100th anniversary which is a little better at it's job than the standard modern (although if you bite even a little you'll get bite marks over time) or if you are able to shell out $350 there's the connoisseur bros which is based off of Cannonball Adderley's mouthpiece

I agree the connoisseur is literally head and shoulders above any other Meyer that you can get today i’m a refacer and that mouthpiece was just awesome straight out of the factory and I say was, because this idiot over here dropped it two weeks ago and We all know what happens when you drop a mouthpiece….it lands right on the tip lol I’m gonna superglue it and see what I could do to fix it. but i know it’ll most likely never be the same note to self, stop refacing on concrete Sean lol. play stupid games win stupid prizes lol

How does the "medium" bros play? Do you think you can send it to someone and get it to be a great player?

This time I'm thinking upgrading to a new mouthpiece(coming from BD5, playing v12 3.5 reeds). I have to mention I'm not able to try in a store cause of Covid situation and I'm between getting to a Selmer Concept or a Backun Vocalise G or continue with same design(BD4 or BD7). Maybe other BD openings are better?? What would you recommend? I'm not satisfied with the articulation of BD5, It has a pretty beautiful dark legato and that's It, all other things are kinda difficult to make. I have one whole year playing It and I think It's time to change to something else..

Okay, I promise tomorrow I'm ordering the Selmer Focus as well as a Vocalise G. Apparently the new BD series are CNC machined and a LOT of people aren't liking them since mid-2020. I will link you to a Clarinet Bboard article about this...

@@DaleFedele Ok! I'll be waiting for this! You'll also review the Selmer Concept?

What's your opinion on Selmer focus and Concept mouthpieces on Bb clarinet? Did you ever try them?
