It looks like he has the capo upside down and the low E string is not capoed. So, when he plays the D shape, it an E chord and he has the open and uncapoed low E as the bass string. It would be similar to a Dropped D tuning with a capo on 2. I'm not sure that the high E is lowered, though. So I would say standard tuning with a capo at 2 on strings 1-5. Hope that helps.

I believe you are right...that first note is so quick before the hammer on that I thought it was a F# but it's actually a E. Duh....funny thing is my wife is a bartender at a place that they play here in Ky and she is sorta friends with them. So I was gonna get her to ask him next time they play there. Guess I would have looked kinda stupid!!

Ok....Im cornfused. Is this lipsynched video or an actual studio footage?..Reason being is the video appears to be edited. Guitar pickers, help me out...I am trying to learn this tune but guitar is in standard tuning at the beginning but in DADGBD at the end. How does he magically get that Taylor (I have the same one) to drop D tune? I want that option on mine!! Thanks

I find it's most likely about a marriage on the rocks. Both partners are deeply in love, yet the differences between them tear them apart like an overwhelming undertow drowning a strong swimmer. The last verse seems to keep it open ended whether or not they split completely, yet based on the entire song I'd say it's very probable. Love can be very cruel.

Norman Blackwell I should also add that I feel that there is an underlying tragedy, such as a death of one of their children, that drives the wedge of these differences deeper and wider.
