Something about the EAS noise scares me. Imagine you are sleeping and you are awoken with the sound of an alam just beeping on your tv in complete darkness, then message appears saying their is something out there and you need to stay safe. It always give me chills. The creature in the thumbnail just makes me uncomfortable. Something about the eyes, I reminds me of Cartoon Cat when there is nothing but complete darkness surrounding a slim body with huge eyes that just shout "I see you" or "I'm coming after you". Anyways, good video of what a EAS might be like since we used to watch TV on channels back in the 2000s or 80s.

I shut AMBER alerts off on my phone for this exact reason. It woke me up at 3am on multiple occasions with that blaring EAS alarm. It’s 3am and I’m in bed…the odds of me helping find a kidnapped child is next to 0. During hours when I actually might be able to help, i get the alert on my TV or radio anyway.

When I was younger I was terrified of the Eas noise, when I was about 11 I use to stay up all night and play games on my computer while watching tv. I remember it was like 5 am and the tv got the alert and it said there was a gas leak that happened in the area I was in and everyone needed to evacuate immediately. It felt like the alert went onfor too long.I went to wake my mom up and as soon as I left the room it finally went off. What weirded me out was that it didn't say like it was a practice drill or anything, everything just went back to normal. Later that morning I asked my mom if her phone gave her an alert but she said no. It could have most likely been a practice drill but that memory has always made me feel uneasy.

I have a garbage old T9 phone that still goes off with EAS alarms, and it always creeps me out, but the biggest issue i have with it (i haven't noticed this on other phones, but that's probably because i don't pay enough attention to them) is that it has a TTS that replays exactly what the message says plus information in a slow distorted way cause the speaker on the T9 is effed to hell and back.
