It’s often not possible to know what we do want until we experience what we don’t want. With every decision, we will experience consequences. And then, we’ll use those outcomes as a jumping off point to something different (and better) in our future. Great points!

This video made me think about the idea of regret and where I find myself at this stage in my life. It's strange this idea of regret. I've been thinking about it a lot and yes there are items that I have bought and looking back now I would not buy again, but back then it felt like the right thing to do and if i'm honest it probably was the exact thing I needed. If it was expensive or took up too much space or I only used it once - I needed to learn that lesson. Now I take a lot more care when buying items and true deep regret is when I do something knowing that this is truly not what I want or I am forced to make this decision because of someone else. Great vid. You are inspiring me to start up my youtube channel again. :)

Loved this 🤩 ever since I started watching your videos and your reasoning behind minimalism I have definitely changed a bit the way I bought things, including clothing. Becoming more practical, investing in good quality and colours that I don’t need to keep buying other things to match. Loving black as you do with still a bit of colour here and there. This was great advice and content ⭐️

As a fellow year-to-year moving minimalist, I echo a lot of your regrets. I've always wanted a cozy personal library in my home, so getting rid of physical books was heartbreaking this past year. I kept a dozen I haven't read and all my design/architecture books, having simply accepted that I'll need to hire movers next time to haul the heavy boxes (plastic bins and a dolly can help).
@kashiichan

Agreed. I decided a while ago, after moving house every 12 months for 5 years, that I would not be buying any more books unless I could prove that I would reread them at least once a year. Since then, I've gotten rid of a lot of owned books and started spending much more time at my local library. Both my house and my wallet are much better for it.

I'm a semi minimalist too. What I mean by this is there are certain aspects of my life where I don't want to spend on more than one thing of the same type, but there are a few other things, where I kinda splurge. But recently, I have been getting more into minimalism, and it truly makes me feel at ease and makes my mind feel a bit calm.

I can easily relate to the iMac stuff you mentioned and I truly wished never happened and I could go back in time… 100 % agree. The shiny objects syndrome is real and frustration not buying is real too and more real is the frustration after buying it… (if that makes sense), book wise 🤔 50/50 … and will depend on which situation in life you are. On quality stuff, it’s a must stick with quality. Nice video very insightful and I wish people will relates to this so they can avoid the real pain and frustration of shiny objects and the regrets of the afterwards buying.

I can relate to many things on your list! Well, not the make-up obv 😀, but I also had a mac computer back in the day. And then I later bought a Macbook Air laptop to travel with, and I loved it so much that it was all I ended up using at home...Re camera, I'm recording all my videos with an iPhone. Works fine for now. And I also have fake plants. I thought they looked amazing when I first saw them in a store, now that I have had them for a while, it really doesn't feel/look the same as real ones. But since I'm away from home quite a bit, for prolonged periods of time, fake plants are really my only option. Hope to be able to replace them with real ones in the future! I feel that one with clothes a lot. When I was a child I almost never wore something new - everything was after someone. So now as an adult I'm not used to buying clothes and I almost never buy them, but then sometimes I'm sad I don't have anything "nice". But another problem I have is that I sew a lot, so I sew my clothes - and when I see something in a shop I would like to buy, its usually sewn so wrong and very unfitting :D.

Solution for books: lokal library (if you have one). (if they don't have the book you want to read, you can usually ask them to get it or to borrow it from another library) + you can read the books physically + no (permanent) clutter + you can simply bring it back, if you don't like it + cheaper - you can't write your notes inside them

I have MANY dictionaries; general, visual, medical, and legal, and some reference books for interpretation training e.g. the Acebo textbooks. So, since this is my field, I should remain with these physical books, yes? I don't really buy other types of books physically like novels, Japanese comics, etc. What would y'all recommend if I ever wanted to switch to using reference books in a digital format? I don't think I can even find half of the books I have digitally.

But a successor (the Alpha 7 IV) will be released soon (hopefully October) and hope it will bring some nice features ... would maybe wait for the A7IV and not invest into the A7III... if you have more cash to spend go for the Sony Alpha 7 S III, it's THE best camera for video... Great video. I’m new to your channel and wondering why you have to move so much? Also, plants do love you back by giving you oxygen to breathe. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is 😄 I’m an “old millennial” and I became an adult at the height of fast fashion and consumerism. I regret most everything I purchased in my early twenties. Really wished I had saved but I was a product of my environment and the world at that time as most people were. Really wish minimalism was a thing back then. I’m trying to make up for it now though.

"buy cheap buy twice" and "I don't need a professional camera" are at odds. I usually go cheap the first time, but if I need more or I need to upgrade or replace, then I invest more carefully in things I understand and use.
@aimi-838
@aimi-838 Жыл бұрын
That‘s what she is saying as well. Buy cheap buy twice refers to clothes and other things that have a tendency to detoriate quickly. As you said yourself, you can adjust equipment when you need it, but smth like clothes, you have to wear clothing whether you want to or not. So it is better to invest in good quality clothing rather than cheap out on it. But a camera, you don‘t need a professional camera to start taking photos. Sure, the quality is different, but unless you work professionally, you absolutely do not need a professional camera. But you 100% need clothing, so that‘s that. I hope this helps ^^

Hahaha I can relate except the Mac coz I still don't have one XD. My laptop is shit tho so I guess I regret it 🤡 Clothes pisses me off THE MOST coz not only it's an effort for laundry but also the frustration of having too many things is real. And also cosmetics. I just focus on basic hygiene and looking presentable. Time saved!! 🤠

Plants don’t give you enough love, it’s sad they only give you oxygen. . . . . . Also, Cat 🐱 🐈 is a better choice as compared to a dog. If you want something that really is loving then get Pedigree Ragdoll cat.

@@elizabethfilips it’s your own choice at the end of the day. But in my opinion cats are a lot more adorable, kind, loving, beautiful, easy to look after, don’t need a morning walk, safer than a dog, cleaner than a dog, quieter than a dog, friendlier with everyone including kids, and helps with keeping rats and mouse away from the house. Cats any day and everyday.
