Not embarrassing mate , your haveing a good go at it, it happens to all of us , had the same shit happen to me , was oxy welding rust on the rear quarter panel on a Morris Marina and the underseal caught on fire , frightens the shit out of you

GREAT work by the way, very challenging but your doing a great job. Been there done that myself. Something that you might try to help hold panels in place where the clamps don't quite fit is self tapping metal screws. Then when your tacked in place remove them and plug weld the small hole they leave behind. Might make for a better fit when your patching like you are. Something else that might save some time is the new replacement parts with the black finish is a good standard primer that car manufacturers use for replacement parts. You might save time and only remove what you need to weld it vs stripping the part completely only to reapply your primer. Just a suggestion but might help in your progress. Heat gun when scraping helps a lot. Just don't get it too hot..

Hello Mate, you are doing an excellent job and its making me remember of all the joy and fun that I've got to come putting new sills chassis legs and floors in mine this year. Never do any angle grinding or welding near your windows you'll put pits in them. Can't wait to see her finished and mine too! All the best.

It happend to me when welding my mazda up the underseal caught light. Luckily I smelt burning before it took hold lol

It's a Lincoln Bester 190C, pretty happy with it so far. Much prefer it to the Clarke EN151 I had before.
