Madrona House, located in a historic hilltop neighborhood of Seattle, is a beautifully designed home built for a retired couple. The house features thick concrete walls with rough-sawn textures and a wooden upper story, creating a sense of permanence and connection to the outdoors. Designed to maximize natural light and integrate gardens despite close neighboring houses, it includes a green roof, passive ventilation, and an east-facing hillside meadow. The home is also equipped for aging in place with a flat ground floor, zero-threshold shower, and an adaptable office space. This innovative design merges Swiss concrete aesthetics with neighborhood warmth, providing a serene and sustainable living environment.
