No.66 Residence, designed by Tristan Burfield, is a modern home located in Melbourne, Australia. This house for a young family occupies a long, narrow allotment, overlooking a private golf course. The exterior features a robust composition of greys, concrete, and sparse black highlights, with recessed windows adding depth to the façade. Inside, the home reveals a sequence of spaces stepping down the site, grounded by a continuous rammed earth wall made from recycled concrete. Key materials include concrete, black battens, charcoaled timber, and steel, balanced by neutral timbers and soft furnishings. The living area opens to an enclosed deck and infinity pool, creating a seamless connection with the outdoors. The kitchen and dining space extend to a courtyard for outdoor entertaining, while a bridge connects the upper-level entrance to a secluded main bedroom. Throughout the house, framed views of the surrounding greenery provide a sense of isolation from the suburban context. Completed in 2022, No.66 Residence exemplifies a harmonious blend of raw materials and thoughtful design.
