Yeah - I use Soil Ninja ‘semi hydro’ substrate (currently the fine semi-hydro, but thinking of switching the Alocasia to their coarse stuff 🙂)

It’s the most success I’ve had with Calathea/maranta and Alocasia. I did transition the Alocasia by popping them in water first so they could shed their soil roots before potting them into semi-hydro and had minimal issues x
