Adrian, we added a couple of those chinese diesel heaters to our parlour to get some quick heat in. Just click a button on the remote and it fires up. Well worth the money and cheap to run!

Yes get space heater working. Those tube type are great for heating a large area like your milking parlor, to get things running. I have used a small one under my house to thaw out the plumbing.

Space heater will smoke a fair bit as you had the top off so that means it cannot get the air through put to burn the diesel cleanly. Glad you got it all sorted.

Love your videos. It never gets boring at your farm, you are you usually tinkering with something. .These are the videos that remind me that milking cows in Wisconsin, USA was not fun in the winter. Why on earth do you place your milking units on the floor? That is totally a way to invite bacteria in your system. We cannot do that and expect to ship milk. The inspector catches it and you are shut off immediately and the milk gets dumped. I have to admit i was surprised you don't heat everything with built in heaters. You must not get very many days of freezing temperatures.

Cracking vid sir.. mind and wrap that exhaust with exhaust wrap tape.. drops noise yo 20 ish percent itself and easy to do.. 😮😊. And for your heater theres a fuel screw on the rear side intake that adjustable .. screw it so the flame is not coming out past the end plate as this would prolong its service life it will also make it run a bit quieter to.. stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Adrian here is a simple solution to cutting the noise on your exhaust. Back story I was on exercise with the army in Germany back in the 70s during the night we moved to a new location. It was a foggy night and visibility was down to a few yards. On the instruction of a young inexperience officer I was ordered to set up our detachment in a "field". I got to work and started the small generator we had for charging batteries, it was a noisy little thing enough to wake the dead. Anyway after a short while this German appeared out of nowhere complaining about the noise. Quick thinking I buried the silencer in the ground which cut the noise by at least 50%. The German was happy and disappeared returning a few moment's later with six bottles of bier. Next day was a bright clear day and to our amazement we were slap dang in the German Farmers Garden. We were preparing to cook a compo ration lunch. Irish Stew and potatoes as it happened when the farmer reappeared with a table, chairs and an umbrella. Followed shortly by his wife who set the table with a delicious lunch of cold meats, cheeses. bread and wine. As they thanked us over and over for fixing noise so they could have a restful sleep 😜wink, wink. So my tip is if you can find a way to build a box round that silencer, fill it with soil preferably clay the the noise will be greatly reduced and the family can have a lay in whist you milk the cows. Maybe, just maybe the farmer's wife will treat you to with a delicious lunch of cold meats, cheese bread and wine. Prost.

You could have been a little bit late with the space heater. I left mine going day and night in the milking parlour to keep it thawed, and it worked.

I thought 2023 was rough, but 24 isn’t much better so far. We’ve had similar weather. Colder perhaps. But wet and icy with similar parlor issues. We have a slightly small Deleval pump than that. It doesn’t have a buffer tank either. I think having a tank can buy you a bit more time when you’re putting on and taking off clusters. We have a two cluster portable milker with a buffer tank and it works so much better than the fixed Deleval. But it’s useless in the winter. Any day close to zero and it stops functioning.

Well another entertaining and interesting video Adrian, expect Hudson was looking for his coat like the calfs have 😄 good to see the parlour is working 100%, thought for a second tractor door glass was going to break! Thinking on some of the space heaters they have a knob on the back to turn heater down, in that case, could you not use a plugin timer for the heater to turn on and off throughout the nights to help you first thing in the morning, calves are all looking well healthy and mums, anyway stay safe👍🍻

An Idea for you Adrian; put a timer plug or a hive plug on that space heater to turn it on in the parlour an hour before you are due to start milking to thaw everything out.

Hi Adrian To stop your tractor and other door sticking in the cold, give the seals a spray with Silicone lubricant. It will drive the moistures away and not damage the rubber seals like an oil based lubricant will. Another benefit is that dirt won't stick to the seals either. A can of lubricant is only a few euros and much cheaper than having to replace a torn seal. Loving your videos - Kept up the good work

Hi, thanks for posting the video. Glad to see that the problems were only small ones 😉. 'Must do is a good master', as ever. While it seems like a great idea to solder wires in a screw terminal (such as a mains plug), don't! The screw comes loose...!! Afaik, the solder deforms (cold flow) under the pressure from the screw. A boot ferrule is the proper solution, if required. Hth 😮.

Use straight pipe exhaust bury a beer barrel and pipe in the top and out through the top it will catch excess oil and will not restrict ur pump plus silence ur machine

Hi Adrian in relation to cell count I had a problem a few years ago with it thank god it got better I came across a company called AHV and started using there product it's works works perfectly well for me and cell count dropped a lot I now haven't used antibiotics for cell count or mastitis n 2 years only AHV worth a look at Adrian

i see you have hoof knack leg lifter. bought the same one a few years ago but had to make a few modifications, we have suckler cows so not always as co-operative a dairy ones. I put a spring on it to keep the ratchet locked as this would come off if the cows started kicking. I also had to drill the locking pin and put a clip in it to as this would also come out if the cow started kicking. other than than its a great yoke, would be worth doing a bit on the video on how and why you check the feet.

For all your door rubbers.. done crease on them. I use some vaseline. Works and protects your door rubbers of tractor and car So they do not get frozen stuck to the door.
