A motorcycle trip documentary covering my 5000 mile motorcycle trip around the country. I wanted to share my thoughts and what I felt as I took my Harley Davidson Road Glide Special on a bucket list trip. This is the first documentary since Sturgis Doesn't Care. I'm hoping this film motivates you to take your own trip, maybe film your own documentary about your motorcycle travels. Go visit that old friend, and see the world on a motorcycle. I take you from San Diego, through Arizona, across New Mexico and Texas, into Oklahoma for the Fast Life Garage Camp out at the KRiver Campground. I then ride up to Arkansas and into Missouri. We visit some new friends in Iowa and get stuck in a Tornado, on the motorcycle in Minnesota. I put a total of 5600 miles on the bike and just as many memories to go along with it. Seeing the world on a motorcycle is completely different than a car. You feel your environment. Motorcycle documentaries are my passion and now I wonder what adventure should I plan next?

After riding my share of trips, here is my advice. 1.) Avoid the interstates as much as possible. Two lanes are the best. 2.) Don't overextend yourself by riding too much. When planning a trip, try a six hour route from point A to point B. This gives you time to stop and enjoy the sights, eat, relax and get to your hotel or campground at a decent time. I've done 8:00am till 8:00pm, no lunch, only stopping for gas for several days. Not worth it. Trailer your bike or fly in and rent a motorcycle if need be. If you are not enjoying it, why are you doing it? 3.) Carry good rain gear! Heated gear if it's going to be below 50 degrees. I have started off the day at 52 degrees and ended up riding in 106 degree weather. Buy a cooling vest and kept hydrated if the temps are hot. Start feeling sick, nauseas, about to pass out, pull over, get liquids in you and cool off before continuing. Soak yourself in water if need be, you will dry off. 4.) Carry minimum amount of clothing. Leave the razor at home. Less is better. 5.) Make sure you motorcycle is up to par maintenance wise. 6.) Some say don't book hotels/motels/campsites but you could run into No Vacancy. When booking, look at the last 4 months reviews (You would be surprised). Some of the small mom & pop no frills hotels/motels have turned out to be the best and cheaper. 7.) Be aware of your surroundings. There are places where you don't want to stop at much less spend the night. 8.) When riding in remote places, be sure you have gas. Some places on the map look like they should have a gas station but don't. Even if you have 1/2 or 3/4, stop and get gas. 9.) Some of the National Parks now require a vehicle reservation. They only let in a few hundred in a day. This pilot program is an effort to reduce congestion, improve visitor experience, and protect park resources so they say. They only release them every year in spring I believe and from my understanding go within the first few minutes after being released. Go visit the government national park website for more information. There were a lot of pissed off people arriving at the entrance gate not knowing this and I was one of them. 10.) Leave a travel plan with your loved ones checking in with them when you leave out and get settled in for the day. 11.) Start feeling tired, exhausted, pull over. Stretch, walk around. Drink coffee, tea, energy drink, five hr energy thing. 12.) My personal preference is not going in large groups. Solo or a few close like-minded riding buddies is ideal.

Thank you Brother for this film.. You said so many things that are so true about a solo ride. I am 71 years old and still ride solo. I got to do a multi day ride to visit an old riding buddy. Over beers we relived "the good old days" In 2020 I did a 4 week trip and at every stop I managed to meet someone who wanted to talk about my trip. When I ride I let my soul fly. AT 72 I don't know how many more riding years I have left, but I will ride till I can't get a leg over my steel horse. Thank you for the great video

Started in Toronto, stopping in Cincinnati OH, Knoxville TN...riding the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway, though NC and SC to Myrtle beach then north to Philly before breaking down in Baltimore....visiting a friend in New Jersey before heading home. Without a doubt the best thing I have ever done for myself. I spend lots of time alone but this was unique being the only time I've spent my alone time on my Harley. That was one amazing video/film!! I too love long distance riding. You’re absolutely correct, every mile a memory and story!! I’m still hoping to get my channel going. It’s been a slow go learning process somewhat because of some health issue!! You tell a great story but there’s only one about your story/documentaries, they ended too soon and left me wanting more!! Congratulations on a stellar video and safe ride across our beautiful country!!

Thank you Dusty. I guess that is not such a bad thing. I was told once that the whole point of a film is to have the audience wanting more while still delivering an impact. Truth be told, this concept was the main focus on the film. I appreciate your feedback and I hope you continue to follow along.

I was cracking up. With your weather situation. I can't tell you how many times. An overpass in the middle of nowhere. Has saved my biker keester. From rain so hard you can't see, wind and hail. When you said "it's only 13 miles. I can make it." I chuckled and said. "Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't !" Which leads me to my favorite saying. When someone asks. "Are you going to ride in this?" I say. " a biker is gonna get wet".

I thruhiked the AT and have a similar mindset that you expressed in this film. It's another subset where comradery is fast formed and long lasting. It also shows how generous and kind people can be in each Smalltown USA that you walk into. Walking over 2,200 miles changes you in a fundamental level as I'm sure these road trips change you. My feet stay itchy now chasing the dragon of my AT adventure. I plan on getting a bike in the coming months and riding cross country. I owned sportbikes before and never thought to undertake a cross country trip (especially noot on a ZX-10r.) Hopefully it scratches that itch in my soul.

Ryan, my anxiousness to see this film over-rode any comparisons to your previous Sturgis short film; never thought about it once…really just wanted to get in a bunker, no interruptions, and enjoy THIS film. And it did not disappoint. Just watching you pull away from your garage, leaving the house….that moment right there struck a chord with me. I’ve had a number of big road trips taken, everything that leads up to that, the planning, the packing, getting my bike right… then pulling away shifting from 1st to 2nd, there’s just a moment there you take a big breath, exhale, and think… here we go. I felt that again as you left the house. I gotta say, you had a few “choked up” moments for me in that film. Just can’t explain it, people have to experience it. Like you & George said, it’s personal, you’re narrating from your heart, where you’re at in that moment. Really it’s a personal story, a personal testimony if you will. It’s your story, it’s inarguable, it can’t be debated…. It’s your story and that’s what makes it impactful, AND that’s where it connects with so many who’ve either enjoyed the same experience, or those vicariously living out such an adventure thru our stories, in hopes they one day take that leap of faith, to go there for themselves. Such an impactful film that really resonated with me, fueled so many of my own riding experiences, which keeps us topping off our tanks, and staying in the saddle. Thanks buddy, a fantastic film.

@@FullThrottleHOG Just went back to re-watch Sturgis Doesn’t Care, and I just don’t want to get caught up in comparing. I just want to enjoy them both, each has an impactful message that should just be enjoy. I saw where your teaser International? If that’s personal to you, you absolutely should. I’m more of exploring every corner, and backroad on my home soil. There is so much unseen by the masses here. I could never pull off a short film as you do, but for me I could see myself riding out each National Park on this side of the Mississippi, maybe all the major Peaks & Passes ie; Beartooth Pass, Logan’s Pass, Independence Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, Pike’s Peak, Mt Evans, Trail Ridge Road on one trip. Another short film on everything to the east of the Mississippi. Maybe All Lower 48 States in another. Maybe pick a year and right to every major rally in the US. I personally feel for me there’s a lot to see, smell, and experience here at home before I ship abroad. Not to mention, this Country needs an inspirational uplifting now. 🇺🇸👊 Irregardless, man I love the quality of your work.

Watching this video has brought tears to my eyes. Not because it is sad, this is an extremely well-done video. It brings up so many memories of all the motorcycle trips that I have taken over the last 40 years visiting 49 states and most of the Canadian provinces. What is sad for me is my riding partners who are gone that made those trips so special. Especially my wife who loved to ride but sadly passed away in 2020.

I feel the same way about my motorcycle trips. When I was a kid growing up in the mid-western town of Pekin, Il., I rode my bicycle all over town, and in the summer when it's hot, and you're two miles from home, like I was this particular day, you don't stop when a cloud burst starts. Instead you relish in that rain cooling you down as you get soaked, and you never ever forget the ionized smell of those first raindrops of the thunderstorm. That's how it is for me now. The same gut feeling comes back when I smell those beautiful ionized rain drops, and feel the air cool me down, as I'm riding my motorcycle. Except now I'm wearing a rain suit, but the memories, and the gut feeling of being a kid come rushing back to me, and often without even realizing it, an enormous grin has formed on my face. Remembering being 12 years old, pulling my bicycle into mom and dad's breezeway, stripping off my tee shirt, and wringing it out...... but never going back inside the house except for dry clothes. I was one of us kids, with my Schwinn Stingray, make believe twisting the right grip.... Riding across this great land of ours, on a motorcycle, surely must be as close as anyone can come to knowing the universe God has given us..... Like a first love, you could never forget, it makes you realize what life's meant to be. I've ridden so far through 23 states, and want to see it all. If I could ferry my Yamaha FJR1300a from California to Hawaii, I'd do that too. I think a person could criss-cross the U.S. ten times in a car, and never get it. Never be one with what is surrounding us. On a motorcycle you are a mass of molecules, just like the air and the smells in it, the rain hitting you , and the rays from the sun and the moon, and you are all in one.
