I just recently bought a gem 2 raptor and your content has definitely helped me with mods and learning about trails. I’m from Las Vegas Nevada and I’ve been wanting to go out to Death Valley. After watching this I am definitely going to plan a trip out there soon!

DV area is amazing man. So much to explore out there and this is on the other side of it. That whole area is a treasure trove of epic views and abandoned mines.

I remember when it was raining over On the Edwards side of the mountains. And we only got a fraction that death valley got. The super blooms are crazy though.

As far as headlight upgrades I definitely recommend a LED replacement bulb…that’s what I did with my gen 1 and it was a huge upgrade

Did you have the halogens or HIDs. I have not found a replacement bulbs for the HIDs

Pretty cool. Guessing this was Erica’s map/notes? We where in 1st place in trophy truck and destroyed the rear end 100 miles to finish. Had a great run and well… didn’t finish lol!

I have the projection headlights like yours and they are horrible, I have had the morimoto lights in my cart so many times but haven't pulled the trigger on them... I ended up turning on my blights and adjusting the beam pattern down a bit and just only run them on blights, no one ever flashes me because they still suck so bad. The older halogen reflector headlights most likely work better even if on paper they seem less powerful.

Yeah, totally agree. I’ve had hi beams on and no one flashed me too. Some have recommended stronger led bulbs but I’m skeptical. But everything is so expensive too so any option is going to be $$$

There are a few towns on the way up. You need to plan it all out but plenty of options.

iPhone 13 Pro. Sometimes I’ll break out a go pro, but for the most part it’s just an iPhone. Super easy, decent quality, and quick capture. I’ve tried the mirror less and DSLRs and I just don’t know enough or have enough budget for glass to get quality video out of them

Rece aside, I wish you'd do a video just driving this off-road all the way to Reno, like a guide. Show the easy and tough parts, where it starts exactly , what to see, where to get gas, etc. Hope you'll think about it. It looks so remote and pretty. Few people will ever see it.

I know a lot of YT channels do that, but I make it a point to not to do guides on remote trails with great visit spots. I did in the past and I saw these amazing places get destroyed. Most prominent is an abandoned WWII base in the desert that is completely gone and burned down because someone found it and was careless. I’ve seen other sites get stripped or damaged after posting about them. Lots of history out in the Nevada desert. If your not willing to put in the time to research the locations and how to get out there, your not going to respect them. Sorry man. But only way I guide folks is if they come on a run and my whole crew of guys is with me. We all have the same Midwest of keeping the places in tact for the next guy.

Finally got the E-Clik on my ‘12 Raptor! It’s insane how well the system works. It requires a bit of tweaking to run on a Gen 1 hopefully SDI can sort a bit of that out in the future.

As far as headlights go there a lot of good full replacement options, but don’t rule out a retrofit. The stock lights are a pain to open but that’s the worst part. There a few really good LED projectors and conversion brackets. I did my own retrofit and I’m not handy at all.

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I went through the retrofit source out of Atlanta. They post a lot of good videos and have a good selection/prices. The best out of the box replacement today is probably from GTR. It’s a white DRL though and that’s a deal breaker on a Raptor for me.

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Raptor retrofit has a website. All orders are done thru email. I got some about 2 years ago and they are great! Extremely bright and look really cool overall. Quality wise, at least from my experience, is not too great. Within a year i had to reseal both headlight housing because they were getting condensation on the inside. And now they are peeling 🥲 they seem to have some protective clear film on them thats peeling off

That’s always a worry. It’s hard for someone in a garage to match the quality of OEM with all the tools and jigs to make these water tight. Will take a look at them. But Marimotos or alpha Rex may be the best options

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad definitely agree Helio. I will say though that as far as functionality goes ive had no issues with them. Im just gonna wait till they finish peeling off and im gonna clear coat them lol

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I have the new morimotos in amber myself, had the white for almost 2 years. They have little electrical bugs and my set had some slight cosmetic issues which could be fixed but in the 2 years I had them I never had any serious problems. They are significantly better than stock.
