real-life equivalent of band pass filter would be something like a steam flute, whistling or howling wind (bandpass filter around white noise); also decay of the violin would be very rapid, not slowly decaying into silence as suggested in the video (the only exception would be in a very reverberant space, where the reverb causes a slow decay).

Nice video! I learned a lot! So they wanted to make voltage controlled oscillators using tubes? Later Robert Moog would make the ... Moog Modular using operational amplifiers and later even, Alan R. Pearlman from ARP Inc. would solve the tuning problem the Moogs had by using a nifty electronic trick - the best known synth he manufactured was the ARP 2600. The previous model, the ARP 2500, makes a special appearance on Spilperg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and also on The Who's "Baba O'Reily". RCA was one of those American companies that changed the world and then disappeared like Motorola, HP, IBM and the Minnessotta Mining Manufacturer a.k.a. 3M. OK ... not all of them disappeared but they don't do what they used to ... I really liked your explanations about synthesis!!!!

Thank you for the kind comment. I've had a lot of fun with the 2600. I'm not old enough to have used one when it was popular, but I'm lucky enough to live near a collection of playable ARPs at a recording & rehearsal studio called The Record Co. They don't have a 2500, as cool as that would be. If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend Hainbach's video on the 2500.

Not much has changed since then - the pricing seems on-par to what Teenage Engineering is delivering right now.
