There is a big reason why SteelHeart and singer-songwriter, Miljenko Matijević, did not get bigger. When performing in Denver for their second album tour in 1992, a 1,000# lighting truss fell hitting Mili in the back of his head. It tore open the back of his head and smashed his face into the stage floor, breaking his nose, his jaw, his cheekbone, and giving him a traumatic brain injury. It took years for him to recover. He did the vocals for Mark Wahlberg’s character in the 2001 movie Rockstar as well as wrote the song for the movie “We All Die Young”. SteelHeart is touring now.

Thank you for writing this. When I heard them say one hit wonder, I grabbed my phone saying out loud, no no no do your homework. But saved my pour finger from getting a crap from trying to tpye all that. I was the first of my friend group to buy this album and would have loved more but by the time he better I turned into a new mom, but I've never forgotten this band. I would have loved to see them in concert. It's sad that the drummer, Jason I think passed away not to long ago from a brain aneurysm Brain aneurysm. It's been great finding them and the current new articles about them here on KZbin. I wish more kids would give the 80's bands more credit. They wrote and sang real songs....Steelheart forever! PS I completely forgot about the movie Rockstar. Thank you for reminding me....❤❤ And these 2 need to know he can still hit those high notes 30 yrs later!

Miljenko was a beast on the Mic for sure. However, he wasn't the only one who did the vocals in the "Rockstar" movie my friend. A lot of the credit also goes to a singer named Jeff Scott Soto who split the vocal duties on the Rockstar movie soundtrack. JSS is a bad-azz vocalist himself in his own right. If you're not hip & never heard Jeff sing check um' out! Some of the stuff he did with Yngwie Malmsteen was some pretty good shlt. For instance, "I'll See The Light Tonight" "I Am A Viking" & "Don't Let It End" are a few songs that show Jeff's voice, IMO anyway. Plus, if you really dig the sound of Miljenko's voice another dude I feel is comparable to his is a vocalist named "Tony Harnell" from the band "TNT." Tony has a monster voice on songs like "Tell No Tales" "Everyone's A Star" & "Northern Lights." Tony sounds mint no matter if he's singing an all out rock jam or crooning a Hair Metal ballad his broad octave range & perfect pitch sounds amazing. Just thought I'd share some other energy vibes in music to enjoy! +Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😜🤘

@@216Numbskull I have over 6,000 albums and am quite aware of Jeff. Myles Kennedy is the guy who took over for Mark Wahlberg’s character at the end. Myles does not have the pure and clean vocals that Mili has imo.

Ok guys/ladies (Cassandra💙) This is 10th time I’ve watched this reaction. I’ve just left comments on a couple. But today was 9th and 10th time watching. And just to start, I LOVE the fact that you went outside the norm. “She’s Gone”, and “I’ll never let you go” have just been DONE! But this song really showcases the “Bands” talents as well. Their Drummer was/is insane, lead guitar is just awesome, and ofcourse Miljenko’s voice! Another really good song you should do from them is “Everybody loves Aileen”. And more really. But the absolute ICING on this reaction is Cassandra’s reaction!! I love both your reactions, but the look on her face, is just pure…. give it a name! I’m just calling it “Rock-Shock-Sexy/Beautiful”. I'm a product of the eighties, and listened to all and played this genre at bars and parties. Two bandmates attended Musicians Institute then. Many of these bands had excellent musicians, however when I watch them now, and I felt even back then that they were just going thru the motions, and would never put out a Skid Row quality tune, and never did. Steelheart to me is one of those bands. Great musicians and maybe average songs at best......just sayin' Cassandra, you are still on beautiful Jerk. Thanks for the reaction guys and dolls. Have you reated to "The Lamb" - Winery Dogs. Very Cool tune and I believe there is a vid of it. Pease

I'll Never Let You Go was one of their biggest hits and i find it weird that the comment section doesn't bring it up. I heard that song on the radio more than anything else they did back then when i was 8 or 9 years old. Some other bands i like from that era are Firehouse, Slaughter, Saigon Kick, Vain. Since late 90's i turned more towards extreme metal like melodic black metal with bands like Sacramentum, Naglfar, Necrophobic, Dawn.

Why have you never heard of them? The million dollar question. They're still touring today. Mili has lost a bit with age, I think he's 62ish now, but not that much.

Mili was the best. Unfortunately Steelheart was 10yrs too late. If they would have come out in the early 80’s this band would have been bigger the Motley Crue. They came in the early 90’s when the hair bands were replaced by the shitty grunge music.
@chrisstone58687 ай бұрын
Agree to a certain point. They exploded on the scene when they first came out with “ I’ll never let you go”, “ Evenybody loves Aileen”, “She’s Gone” and this one. But Milijenko’s voice was unmatched at his highest. Timing was not their biggest downfall. Miljenko accident was. So again agree to a certain point.

@burch2488, I don't know about all that my friend. I mean c'mon man, Steelheart was good but to say they would of been bigger than Motley Crue is a little silly really, don't ya think? Of all bands to choose from & put them up against you pick the Crue. At least show some respect for Motley Crue seeing as though they were one of the first bands if not the first band arguably who really made shlt happen for all the other Hair Metal bands to come. Motley are the ones who got the ball rolling & started the whole Hair Metal music scene on The Strip in L.A. There were a few other bands back then who were doing their thing with sort of a little bit of the same idea the Crue was trying to do. But no one was doing it like Motley was doing it back in the day. I'm not even saying Motley Crue were the best ones to ever do it. I'm just saying they at least deserve the respect then for you to think Steelheart would have been bigger than the Crue. Especially when Steelheart as a band wasn't even a thought for almost a decade later after the Crue was well established in music. Trust me, Hair Metal certainly didn't start in Connecticut that's for sure. Just saying... Let's keep it a buck here, ya dig? 🤔😵💫😂🤣 Blah,ha,ha!!! +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😜🤘

@@216Numbskull See that’s why I agreed.. to a certain point. And you made that point very well. I still remember the story they told in Rolling Stone, on how they got their name. A friend comes in and says “ Well don’t you all look like a Motley Crue”. And then it began!! And very true about L.A.‘s strip. A lot of really good bands played that strip. A really good friend of mine, now gone, would tell me awesome Rock tales about the bands he heard on that strip. He could tell you every band members original singer, and lead guitarist. His plane went down, going over the Rocky Mountains. He flew his own single engine plane. On his way to Denver for a Concert. Somehow he got turned around, then boxed in a Rocky Mountain range. His last words were, “If anyone can hear this, I have no Effing idea where I am”. Found his wreckage 4 years later.

Whether or not it's bcuz he missed the boat & was under the radar more so than other kick-azz singers were back in the day. Tony still deserves his dues for having the octave range & perfect pitch he had in his voice control for sure. If any of you aren't hip to who Harnell is, check um' out!
