I thought that was because muslims thought that pigs were reincarnated humans. Never the less if they were unsanitary or any worse than regular meat there would be research and scientific articles written about. But the whole religion is silly, making woman wear hijabs and praying 5 times a day. Take no offense though, I think most religions and rules are silly, we are brainwashed into doing a lot of things in our lives, when in the end we are all gonna end up either burned or burried. I think religions were made up by egoistic people, who were so afraid that there is no meaning and purpose in life that they tried to come up with thier own. It's no better than believing in unicorns and fairies.
@grantmccoy67393 жыл бұрын
I think there's something to be said about the context of the prohibition of eating pork. It could have something to do with the concept that in ancient times, pigs used to literally eat human waste. Pigs today eat soy, oats, etc, so there's a huge contextual reasoning there. That being said, I don't eat meat or animal products anymore. Eating meat has always been unsettling to me, but it took me a long time to commit to that change. I likely would have sooner had the options existed then.

I've seen vegans claim honey was "bee slavery"... @@godofchaoskhorne5043 I think meat is disturbing. Skinning an animal, draining it's blood, gutting it, and the dismantling it with a saw or butchers knife. I've heard that when cow's are slaughtered, they pneumatic "gun" just stuns them. They actually bleed to death. Whether or not that's true, it's still disturbing. People who work in slaughter houses can't be mentally healthy. One thing about eating meat that doesn't make sense to me, is how similar we are in composition. If you think about it, when you eat meat, your body creates an acid that dissolves meat. You are also made out of meat. So it might actually be dissolving you from the inside out. That's the thing that really made me stop. The animal slaughter stuff has never been close enough to home. Vegan food doesn't taste as good, it's true. If meat didn't taste good, it would be considered savage and barbaric. But the taste makes it high fashion.

As a muslim myself I do believe that its perfectly fine to eat those plant based products imitating pork, however the concern here is like "what if you actually really liked the taste and it enticed you to try real pork". people with strong faith or people with a strong mentality might reject the appeal of trying the real thing but others might not, so as a general rule of thumb we act by the "better safe than sorry" rule when it comes to the grey areas of what is Halal (allowed) and Haram (not allowed). The issue here is muslims generally follow religious leaders opinions on the matter, so a religious leader might rule out imitation pork to be Haram due to the fear of some people falling into trying real pork.
@beausifer3 жыл бұрын
@@zeedan94 Thank you, that is a better way of wording it that went more in depth than I had. When we try to find "loop holes" or make excuses for why we do what we're taught or commanded not to, we might then start doing that more and more. @@SpartaSpartan117 Yes sure but I've seen plenty of Vegans who claim meat tastes disgusting and it makes them want to throw up etc. That said meat is not animal cruelty. There is nothing cruel about eating meat. Its the most natural thing in the world. I love animals but I'll never stop eating meat. Is it cruel that a lion snatches the kalf of a buffalo right as they are born and tears it apart infront of the mother? Or that it tears open the belly of a pregnant animal and tears out the baby? That it slowly eats its pray while it's still alive and screaming out in pain? I would argue that's a 1000000x more cruel as the worst factory farms. We feed and grow those animals untill its their time and then quickly and painlessly end their life's Nature can be horrifying. Our worst isn't even close to how horrible animals can get. How they play with and torture their food. I've seen my cat do some terrible stuff to little birds and mouse etc.

It can be hard to understand but tweak the circumstances a little - imagine it was marketed as impossible human meat, a plant-based alternative to human meat. I imagine a lot of people would be a little uncomfortable eating it even though they know there is no real human in it.

@@sharvit so what I’m hearing is your definition of kosher is not the dictionary definition (the ones with words that count) but one based on social interactions and feeling… take your unscientific nonsense and sit in a corner. Words have meaning and if people want to corrupt their meaning then they deserve to be called on it. I find it sad that personal feelings get in the way of logic and reason, people like that make me despair for our species fate.

@@blueguyhere the word is not what is forbidden it’s the act of eating that which was seen as unclean… however from the original teaching the practice has devolved into a much broader set of restrictions. My question is: At what point does the practice’s ever furthering position from the original text constitute a blasphemy to the base purpose. I would wage that giving in to that which is removed from the raw text (hyper-restrictive interpretations) pollutes any faith with absurdities not originally intended or considered from the time of its writing. Really it is a bit sad to forbid a word because of social changes and not core changes. But hey… >.> I’m not surprised
