I am back with another lens rental from LensProToGo.com and the 85mm is just unmatched, to be honest!

I have used the RF 50mm f1.2 for basketball in small gyms, and while shooting at 1.2 or 1.4 is great, the AF has trouble keeping up with fast moving players. Reviews sometimes blame it on "moving a lot of glass" so I figured this one would have a similar problem. It's great to know the AF is great, thanks for trying it out! You now have to rent and try out the RF 28-70 f2, to complete your reviews of monster lenses...

Thanks for watching and this lens is so good! Also, I never thought about trying it out since I have the 24-70 2.8 but I may have to rent it and see if it's worth the price difference!

Looks great. I have the EF version and only tried basketball and volleyball. I feel it is limiting for say football for tighter images being required. In the gyms I shoot I get some orangish lit photos that get rejected. I gave up on my 85. I am more of a zoom lens guy to have less limitations. It seems to fit you and your volleyball pics look great! My ef version is good enough for now. I have other bucket list lenses...lol Thx

To each their own. The schools asks for wider shots often for publication and to be used for graphics so 85mm is spot on for volleyball and yeah for football it is def only used for huddle or close field shots but even then, a crop is needed. I think I am fond of primes since they're faster f/ and faster AF typically. The RF's are even faster. Weird a lens would cause an orange tint, ive never seen that before.

I forgot to mention I knew backup for football. I am not allowed to have any loose images, so I just get what I can get with my 300. Too lazy to carry a backup. but have been keeping my R7 with my rf 16 in a holster for team photos etc.... High school gyms are rough . Maybe I should turn on anti flicker and see if that helps.I hate spending time trying make the images not orange lol@@DLivingston

Yeah, I am assuming the orange is from the flicker if you're in a gym with old lights. Most around here are now to LED lights so the flicker isn't there. I do remember back when I shot highschool I would get orange images from the high school football fields. I am assuming you shoot for MaxPreps or something with not allowing loose images and having rules as such.@@angelogarciajr5356

Possibly mercury vapor or sodium vapor lights causing it? Possibly a color setting in the menu for that?
